elite Dellorto carburettors

Recommended Posts

Hello again everyone

With the aid of some easy start I managed to start my elite, bear in mind it's been standing for over 20 years I put some new spark plugs in it and replaced the points and I was really relieved it started because I paid a fair sum for it. However there is a problem the rearmost carburettor is leaking on to the distributor ,I have removed the carb and had a look at the choke diaphragm but it doesn't look too bad .Does anyone on here know where I can send it to be repaired there are two for sale one Ebay for£650.00 but I don't know what engine they they came off and what sort of jets they have fitted There must be someone out there who can repair them?

That's great news starting the engine.

I'm not sure if these have been mentioned before, but it doesn't hurt repeating:

  • Please make sure that you have changed the belts before going any further. If you have, please ignore this one
  • Photos, photos, photos - we love them all :) - the more the merrier - do not ignore this one

They are easier to work on than would first appear - only dismantle one at a time so you have the other as a reference.  I'd dismantle and clean them.  Replace the needle valves.  Check float heights.  You could even get all the steel parts re-plated while they are in bits!  Buy a good book about Dellortos and do it yourself!  The money you save will pay for the book and you'll feel great knowing you've done it 😃.  Rebuilt kits are available from Eurocarb.
