Possibly not helped by all the hot air and CO2 produced by the 25,000 attendees each year.

It's very hard (my Google skills are not good) finding out exactly what the carbon footprint is of the COP meetings. As you say, 25,000 people attending each year from all over the globe ain't exactly setting a great example is it.

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

At least we will be so glad to see Greta Thunberg again?

Well even CV-19 hasn’t been enough to save the planet.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-59016075

Seems that even though we produced 5.6% less CO2 last year due to the pandemic, the overall levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere just kept on rising, most likely due to natural phenomena. So make the most of it while we still can.

Glad I don’t live near the sea! 😆

I think its more that we are destroying the natural world and areas that help fight the gasses. It doesn't matter that production of gasses are down if there are less trees and green areas to process them!

The whole COP 26 is aimed at the wrong area's, we should be looking at our and other countries protection of Green areas and natural world! Also, With no China or Russia attending it's a mute point as they are the major contributors!

Maybe all of the 25,000 attendees row there to save on their emissions. Or they pay the carbon offset $ figure on airfares so they can feel worthy.

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Opinions are like armpits. Everyone has them, some just stink more than others.

So I can pollute at a cost. Whoopee!

I is not guilty m'lord - I have a receipt that say I'm 25,000 miles a year in credit .... cost me £25,000, so the offset has be done by someone else - typical SEP mentality (SEP = Someone Else's Problem)

So who actually "does" the work that these $/£/€ etc. raises? who creates green spaces (not for house building or animal farming, or bio-oil farming)

Just asking ....

Greta Thunberg is in London and Complaining she hasn't Been "Officially invited" to COP26.

That's because its for heads of state and scientists not activists Greta. Or have you finally got that Masters in Environmental Science? No? Shame.

If she gets involved I withdraw any interest.

50,000 seats on planes, not 50,000 flights, more like 250 planes flying.

Well that’s only if they all flew on the same planes, which I doubt.
However, you won’t believe this, but when I drove out of Lotus Silverstone last Saturday morning, I noticed a Swampy like character crossing the roundabout directly outside the main circuit entrance. Around his neck he was wearing a cardboard sign with the words COP26. I confess to not picking him up, but I wasn’t going far anyway, but you have to hand it to him for allowing 8+ days to hitch from Silverstone to Glasgow.

Very environmentally friendly

We live a couple of hundred yards from the M8, about 12 miles from Edinburgh Airport.

What you don't see in that video is the aerial activity that followed the convoy along the motorway - 2 military helicopters and a police helicopter flying parallel to the route plus a police fixed-wing aircraft circling overhead, so several more kgs of environmental friendliness to consider there, .

Environment?  Err . . . off to fairy land . . .

All this international travel is quite tiring. Particularly for the elders.
