Cam cover paint

Hi all,

Following an engine rebuild I'll repaint the cam covers. I assumed these were finished with a crinkle paint but I see the covers are cast with a 'crinkled' effect.  Now I'm not sure what paint to use -crinkle or a flat satin?

I dont think you need crinkle paint like you say the cast finish is plenty rough already. I think I used black smooth hamerite etc.

Wrinkle paint every time IMO.  I think it looks waaay better.

VHT Wrinkle-finish red, SP204. Or black, SP201.

just DON’T cure it in the kitchen oven - it stinks!

And it takes waaaay longer to dry/cure than most paints.

Unless you’re single, or prepared to be single, pre-heating the component parts with a hot-air gun is the answer.
