ahhh

0-62 in 4.8seconds and up to 100 in 10.7

v8

0-62 in 4.9seconds and up to 100 in 10.54

i reckon it depends on which edition of the top trumps cards you might be using !!! Some seem to infer 4.2-4.4 seconds !!

didnt think it would be long before Alan tipped up and pointed out the error of marks ways :sofa:

It's been 8 years since I looked up the V8 0-60 number, but I think it was 4.7...in the wet on day of testing. Which makes Barry's 4.8 to 62 about right.

I'm assuming the 0-62 values used above is to be consistent with 100 klics, to stay "apples to apples" with them furren euro-car rag mags, no?

Alan's figure of 4.3 may be closer to the mark (dry conditions). Of course, living in the U.K., you'll never experience this phenomenon. Just kidding.

I found this after a brief search...which lends further credence to Alan's numbers. What's not to like?

After reading some of the unfortunate accounts in the "Unhappy" thread, I am happy to report that I finished the annual hedge-trimming chore today without mishap. I didn't fall off the ladder, all limbs are intact and working (as best they do these days) and I can still order a round of drinks without resorting to the expedient of sending the barkeep four "thumbs up" signs in rapid succession. The only dodgy moment came when I was leaning into the boxwood hedge to reach the far side when I had the sudden realization that if I leaned farther or, worse, lost my balance I would get a DIY vasectomy from a protruding branch. That potential catastrophe was avoided and I remain non-vasectomised although I am given to understand that it is a relatively minor procedure that can make a vas deferens to your sex life.

V8 does it in 4.3 seconds Mark...

It probably could with the right gearbox but Lotus had to slightly detune the engine as the Renault UN1 gearbox couldn't take it.  The official Lotus figure was 0-60 in 4.8 seconds.

Barry,

so that will be all Guidance Note books back in the cupboard for another year then ! They are the most pristine books I own and must have had them 10 years. I often find my wife looking at  Guidance Note 3 with wonder! ( inside sparky joke)

Approved or Domestic?
