Is someone keeping a register of the essex cars ?

I have found #15 and will be returning it to the UK in the spring.

all that info came from me,

i have told the owner that the car number 15 is, but be carefull with that, its a written off car

it had a big accident back in 1982 and they also blow up the orginal engine, there is no a other dry sump engine inside,

Probably why it’s been missing so long, it’s turned up red in Finland with no historical paperwork from the U.K.

The chassis plate is correct as 10935.

Sounds like an episode from Only Fools and Horses where Rodney thinks it will make more money by paining it red to look like a Ferrari..

colour code A16 is also Essex Blue, so this was #15

also the interior is pianted black, as you can see some red spots on the interior (when it was a real essex back in those days)

Amazing to see 015 has turned up. That was Hew Dundas' car - as per Roo's comments elsewhere on the forum (the Missing Esprit's):

 

#015 was Hew Dundas, he kept it unto 1982 when he traded it for a Ferrari. Blew the engine on the way to Scotland. He also had a rear tyre blow damaging some bodywork. Hew said it had 12.000 miles when he traded it in. He has no record of where the car went.

This week I unearthed two more images featuring my Essex Elite, its arrival in Monaco in time for the 1980 Grand Prix weekend after a convoy from Hethel, and a trio of Essex vehicles at Hethel.  Thanks to ex-Lotus employees Richard Styles and Colin Gething for the pics.

Hi all.

 

I am the owner of XAY 955X, it's the third development car that originally left the factory in Essex colours, it was painted over to dark red at some point after being owned by the lotus exporter. 

I was hoping someone might have some history on it or know a little more. I'm currently recommissioning it bit I think it will be a long process.

Hi Andy - all I have is - Eng.Car - Built May 1980 - used by Mike Bishop. Now RHD maroon car (MOI 7034) and the chassis and engine numbers.

It was originally LHD though?!
