Nope, we were directed to park like that by marshals in hi-viz. I did what I was told!

You get far less door dings when you park cars at an angle like this. So the question has to be, why do they paint the lines in practically every UK car park at right angles?  You see the angled parking much more when abroad.  Just another thing that makes me shake my head about UK planners, designers, whatever...

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

I can’t speak for planners but my own observation from visiting various countries is that the UK is one of the few countries where people are a) capable of and b) willing to reverse into spaces - something that’s not an option in most angled spaces.

Really, people can't reverse into an angled space? Gosh, they shouldn't be driving then surely?

Many a holiday in Spain and in the supermarkets people parked fine. Germany too

Italy - well, it's Italy and is just chaotic. Paris too. Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden I've found ok too.

The spaces are angled at 45 degrees so you can drive into them with a slight turn. Reversing in is of course possible, but when going backwards it'll be at 135 degrees so hard for most to judge, especially in the tight confines of a car park with others often waiting. I'd say it's impossible in most car parks in 1 go, they aren't wide enough so it would take 3/4 movements to get into.

Removal will be the reverse with a very sharp 135 degree turn to join the direction of traffic so it's about a billion times easier in both directions if you just drive in forwards and reverse out.

Can you imagine trying to reverse park into this middle space when travelling from L->R and how much easier it would be to drive forwards into it.
