Where Autobahn meets corners.

THere was some discussion on here as to whether or not high speed Autobahn driving is interesting. Well, the curves just south of Kassel on the A7 allow pulling in excess of 1G at speeds above 200 Kph.

A couple things of note:

1. You never seem to hit 100% throttle

2, You hit 100% brakes several times

3. Autobahn drivers reserve the middle lane just like the infuriating bubble brains in the UK do, in fact more so. Good job there are no sun lounges on the hard shoulder too - although to be fair these days the Brits are far more irritating at reserving sun beds than anyone else in Europe excepting the Russians.

Otherwise, excellent!

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

I'll admit that I would have to change my underwear going full throttle on that section of Autobahn.

The GTE has incredible clearing status on the left lane. The drivers ahead seem to think the devil himself () is after them. Probably the biggest asset of all for traveling fast.

Lovely. I have to confess I prefer your Autobahn films to your twisty single carriageway ones. I guess it's because the public road speeds involved are so incredibly high compared to what we island monkeys are used to. I drive fairly regularly on German Autobahns, but never in anything particularly quick (i.e. hire cars), or for that matter on many long de-restricted sections.

A few shots from a racing event last weekend. Svenskt Sportvagnsmeeting is an annual event that takes place at Ring Knutstorp in the south of Sweden on the first weekend in July. It was first arranged in 1974. It's a mix of classes ranging from pre-war via 60's and 70's race cars, formula race cars to modern amateur racing with MX-5's. In parallell there's a sports car rally which attracts more than 100 cars. The races had 243 drivers this year. Various sports car clubs have exhibitions on the lawns, including Lotus Car Club of Sweden.

Hi All, I attended Heveningham Hall Sunday with my local Lotus club displaying our cars at this county fair. The club has done this event for several years now, but this year was a special treat as it was the 20th anniversary year of this event.

So the owner of the hall Jon Hunt along with Bonhams Auction house put on an extra display of his car collection as well as a few additional models owned by others. I think the collection was in the region of £50-100 million on display, which I quite believe. It was £10 to go in and view the cars, but worth every penny, also my first time viewing a Bugatti Veyron in the flesh.

You can see most of what's on display here: Jon Hunt Car Collection

  • 2 weeks later...

Popped up to the factory yesterday to meet the new Head of Marketing and though it would be nice for those who haven't visited to see what it's like to drive up there. Always exciting to turn into Potash Lane after a long drive up there. :)

So, they have a new Head,  when does the actual Marketing team arrive then?

The road from the A11 to the factory (and just past Potash Lane) is arguably the best (and only) 'driving' road in the area.

Don't BMWs normaly hit trees with their rear side (from oversteer)?
