Granted I'm a short @rse at 5' 8" so maybe not applicable to all but the mirror does not create a blind spot for me.

However..... the large blind spot is to look out for is door mirrors and A frame as one very expensive T bone 3-1/2 years ago testifies.  They are more or less in line of sight for me in certain circumstances and in the particular incident in question I was on a very slight uphill arrival at cross roads and completely didn't see car coming from left when I was turning right at night in street lights.  I' am now so aware of it I realise how often it is an issue.

To be honest, it's not so much blind spot, more whats the point in a large mirror for the postbox rear window :D

Plus I have one here from my last car.

  • 3 years later...

Thinking of getting one for my Evora.

Fitted one to my Elise and thought it was great. Improved forward visibility without making any real difference to the view behind. With a louvred tailgate I have even less to lose!

Any interest in a group buy perhaps?

Yes, I'd be up for that too.

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

Potentially me as well if they fit properly. Would never have bothered in the S1 but the slightly higher seats in the 400 do exacerbate the issue.

Blessed with the competence to be a slave to the incapable.

Currently without a Lotus, Evora 400 Hethel Edition in Racing Green with Red leather and 2010 Evora N/A in Laser Blue and 1983 Lotus Excel LC Narrow body in Ice Blue all sadly gone.

SeriouslyLotus seem to do them and as a UK company and sponsor on here etc. I'd be happy to buy through them. They do a rhd specific one too!

Any deals to be had for four @Seriouslylotus?

https://www.seriouslylotus.com/miscellaneous/interior/micro-mirror-sector111-rhd

I'm sure we could rustle up a good few more orders if there were.

Having owned one of these before on my Elise they are really nice quality items, which helps to explain the high price (for a small mirror).

Good work lads, I'll set up a new group buy thread if Dave is able to work something out for us.

Until then might have a word with another supplier.

I would imagine we'll get a few more takers from some of the other owners with rear louvres.

Just for clarification, not any more as the sponsorship was cancelled back in Jan.

Ah. OK. Well who knows. A few group buys and some good business and they may be back....!  Always look on the bright side....  I have a missus to look after the dark side!

They are just a fraction of the size and so can eliminate a "dead spot" in your forward vision. Also easier to connect a dashcam higher up as the OEM mirror can get in the way etc.

It's not often having something much smaller is an advantage, but with this, given the limited rear vision anyway, it just kinda makes sense.

There's not a lot to see in a rear view mirror in an Exige S2 Pete. They were fitted from new for the same reasons many vans had them fitted, they had to, but there's no rear view to be had.

No idea. Does it not need one for the MOT?  If not, maybe I'll just remove mine completely.

Might get one for the VX220 as well. "Can't have too many mirrors". Said the whore to the client....

View forward is much improved without a mirror. Micro mirror is a good compromise and provides the same information that a full size mirror does. You see the carbon slats really well, but not much else!

I had one of these on my Elise and that had quite good rear visibility!

Most feel these mirrors are expensive but they are quality (nicer than OEM, all metal bodies) and the alternatives are very cheap and nasty and won't be going in my car.

Only caution is for pre 2007 cars, I cracked the windscreen on my Elise removing the old mirror. Easily done apparently, especially on a hot day. No such worries with later cars which are an easy swap.

I removed and twisted my mirror upside down which moves its much higher up the window when refitted.

Maybe give that a go if you're concerned about forward vision ?
