Suicide doors for Evora

Recommended Posts

Another reason Lotus need to hurry up with Evora roadster!

I have a mate who used to have a VX220 and said a couple times the parking space was too narrow for him get out the door so he took the roof off to exit the vehicle.

Can't do that with the current Evora!  🙁

Agreed and sliding the seat right back helps too. Easy ingress/egress was one of the many reasons I changed my much loved Exige for the Evora and for that reason alone it’s a winner for me, aside from the others.

The door sills on the 4*0 are really what they should have been in the S1 Evora - I honestly think it would have done a lot lot better than it did had it been, I recall in the reviews at the time, that it was one still a picking point for journalists.

Personally, I like it, adds some character and reinforces the feeling that you're getting in to a proper sports car!  Try getting in an Elise / Exige after an S1 and you'll notice how much more difficult those are!

If you lower the window and get out then how are you rolling it up to lock the car? their power windows, do they roll up if you lock it?

Leave the key in the ignition and once stood up wind the window up.

Blessed with the competence to be a slave to the incapable.

Currently without a Lotus, Evora 400 Hethel Edition in Racing Green with Red leather and 2010 Evora N/A in Laser Blue and 1983 Lotus Excel LC Narrow body in Ice Blue all sadly gone.

A few years on - has anyone yet fitted scissor doors to the Evora??

I am not a fan of them, but parking spaces in France are generically marked out on the assumption the 2CV is still the only car people drive. Many times I have been embarrassed in a car park with another car wedged up against me!

For this reason, I looked carefully at fitting a set BUT after doing the geometry, I'd be no better off because it is necessary to open the door traditionally a fair bit before they spring up in the vertical. With the amount of lateral opening required, I would have enough room to squeeze into the car, so abandoned the idea. Interested though on any comments from experience.
