That's very tidy indeed. I'm sure I've seen it on here at some point. POA is always interesting but perhaps a wise way to go - I think it does tend to make people think it will be priced above average.......but it looks well above average so why notB-)

Doing about 1k a year, so not sitting in a garage doing nothing. Be interesting to see what it fetches.

Does look very nice. I'd love to try an HC one day to compare with my early Turbo.

The crazy 3000 mile blue HC that was for sale last year made £50k I believe.

It's for sale at Paul Matty's so they won't be letting it go cheap.

I am sure this is the one I was offered a few months back. It is a stunner, but was way out of my price bracket.

"POA"

Ridiculous, just tell us how much you want, eh? Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. You want me to call to be told it's some astronomical figure in the realms of fantasy? No problem, then.

How much was it back then John?  I'd expect this to be advertised at around £35k

Think it could be more than that .Stocks sold an s3 turbo for that recently. Probably 40+

hindsight: the science that is never wrong

So when I advertise my S4s.......I've not to put POA, is that what you're saying!? Glad this came up as that was the plan:lol:

If you put POA presumably you have a price in mind. Some will look at it and think the price will be so high it is not worth inquiring when possibly that isn't the case. If you don't know the price then put it to auction

My thinking was that I personally believe there is more of an interest in the early Turbo look now and I reckon there was more money to be had in the Stocks Ice Blue one you mention........and certainly more now given its Motor Show connections. The HC model, say around 10 years ago was the most sought after Turbo model but as I say I reckon the early look has made a return probably due to the greater coverage it's had recently.

I hear you Pete but when you're selling, like I will be, you see things slightly differently. I have a price in mind for mine but I'd always be interested in offers as it's quite a hard car to price given the current interest and appreciation of the S4s and the fact it's colour combo is a one-off.

I actually rung about this today as been keeping my eye out for one just like this for a while now, certainly sounds like a nice example, the guy on the phone wasn't too keen to let me know the price to start with but in the end he let slip that he would let it go for £45k and nothing less as he says it is worth every penny.

Certainly more than I was looking to pay but still keen to go and have a look.

I guess the big question, is it worth £45k as prices only seem to being going one way?

It's worth what someone is willing to pay I suppose........if he sticks to his guns and is is no hurry it could realistically sell at that money - looks every penny of it I think!

So when are you collecting it?

Well for every punter that takes my bet I get £5 off what it costs me. You in?

Quite keen to go an have a look on Monday, I really can't see there being any movement on price as the guy on the phone's attitude was if it doesn't sell in 6 months then he'll put the price up to £50k and just keep waiting till it does sell, good to see that everyone thinks it is worth the money though.

Funnily enough yesterday I was over at Lotus Silverstone to discuss swapping the LF1 for a 380 Cup but now I think going for this Esprit would be a better use of funds.

I am hoping the TLF meet on Sunday will give me some clarity of thought :-)

£45k is a bargain if prices continue up. No guarantees of that of course but I still think the best Esprits are undervalued compared to many of the alternatives. This car should surely be worth more than an equivalent Lancia Integrale or Escort Cosworth?

The golden rule is to buy classic cars that you wouldn't mind being stuck with if prices start to fall. At least Esprit values aren't super heated so shouldn't have so far to fall.

@Vipers being fortunate to own both a classic Esprit and an Exige V6, you really need one of each. Such different ownership experiences. With the Esprit it's a lot of polishing and taking photos. With the Exige it's more about shredding race tracks. If you're not planning to get heavily into trackdays I'd say go for the Esprit. Classics are really nice and rewarding to drive within the legal limit.

I was chatting with the Assistant Editor of Classic Car magazine earlier this week and he was commenting on how undervalued the Esprit seems to be at the moment when compared to the prices achieved by cars they were up against when new.

I must admit since having my S2 M100 it really has made me appreciate owning an older car, I really love my Elan so I totally understand what a differetn experience it is, you really feel a sense a duty to look after it and preserve it for years to come, in the end I'd love an Esprit, a Europa and original Elan.

I was hoping to spend around £30k for an Esprit so this is a little out of budget but where there is a will there is always a way :-)

Appreciate it if you can hold off for about 8 weeks, Paul. Thanks.

Sorry Ian, not sure I could do that, we are planning another Boys Toys Day this year for July 22nd so if I do end up with it you can always come along and admire it :-)
