Lotus at Goodwood FoS 2023
Mark Blanchard replied to Sport220's topic in Lotus / Motoring / Cars Chat
I sat in the Emira for the first time. I was blown away, the most comfortable sports car I have ever sat in (being 6ft 5). The steering and dash layout was perfect and the seats were comfortable and supportive. No wonder the car is so popular. I'm going to get one some day no question. Couple of shots from yesterday. -
Lotus at Goodwood FoS 2023

I was there today. It was a total mud bath this afternoon. They weren’t running many cars up the hill. If they held it tomorrow the organisers would have a real job parking the cars in the fields, without them getting stuck. -

Very interesting Kimbers. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. And very true about China, India and the US. -

New solid state batteries are being developed by Toyota, which will be lighter, have a reduced charging time and have a 20% increase in range. More here: -

Very nice car, congratulations! This looks to be the one: https://carsonline.bonhams.com/en/listings/lotus/esprit-gt3/33bc4574-370d-412e-938a-bca67498e4ed Having owned a red Esprit, you'll probably get used to moron Ferrari owners waving at you.

So the new Owner has only had the car 16 days. Buying from an internet auction is a risky business.

Getting down and dirty with an old flame
Mark Blanchard replied to Sparky's topic in Lotus / Motoring / Cars Chat
Car still looks superb! -
Insurance companies are saying that parts on new cars are more expensive, where as in the old days you could get say a coil spring, now you have to buy the entire suspension assembly (as per my Audi A6), as cars are designed differently now. So that feeds through to increased prices for insurance claims. I would imagine there's some profiteering too.

Very very happy with mine.

$220,000 is a ridiculous price. The tanks will be rotten and it'll need plenty spending on it to make it road worth. A mate bought a mint 5000 miles 2001 V8 that had spent it's life cosseted in a Dubai garage and it needed huge amounts spending on it. He sold it as it left a bitter pill. If you're not going to drive it, just look at it, then let then next owner pick up the bill.

URGENT CALL OUT ** ANY OLD PICS OF MJK?
Mark Blanchard replied to Kimbers's topic in Lotus / Motoring / Cars Chat
I scanned most of those photos from Lotus World magazines for MJK about 10 years ago. There were also loads of interesting factory photos from those magazines. -
A prototype based on the Lotus Elite / Eclat. I'm guessing for the federal market, judging by the size of the bumpers.

What a great garage! And that S1 looks good without the front tag.
