The Platinum is fitted to the Emira and is specified for start/stop and AGM. Is it right or even necessary for the Evora? Would you be paying for something not required? In Feb my battery started showing signs that it was ready to be changed. It was a Varta blue and it had been fitted to the Evora for over 5 years, no problems here. The Evora was originally specified with the Varta blue but at the time people on here were recommending the Varta silver, so which did I go for? I checked the specification on the website, the silver had more power and it had a longer warranty period but it was slightly more expensive and also slightly heavier. I also saw that Varta do a start/stop battery but as the Evora doesn't have that technology it seemed pointless paying for that. So the choice for me was either lighter weight and cheaper price OR more power and longer warranty. I chose the Varta Silver for £96 from Tayna Batteries. Very happy with their service and happy to recommend them.

I started insuring my Evora with LV in 2019. Their quotes went down then up and in Oct 2022 they were asking silly money so I switched to Aviva. Last year I paid £460 (including extras). This year they quoted £477 but my circumstances have changed, I have retired and I also added the wife as a named driver, and I actually paid £400. Shop around, don't ignore the bigger insurance companies, and sometimes adding a named driver can reduce your premiums. It's a pain having to shop around, it took me five hours to insure my two cars, but it might save you a few bob.

My house insurance dropped 10% last year I had it on auto-renew. This year it has shot up 25% and they had taken the premium before I new about it. I was particularly busy with some business so didn't have time query it. I have taken it off auto-renew and will be shopping around next year. My cars aren't on auto-renew, so will be shopping around. There was an article on the radio about high premium rises and an insurance spokes-person blamed it on the high rising cost of repairs and inflation etc.

The two Mercedes drivers ending up on the podium in only the second race with the new style car is very promising. As the designers develop the car it can only get better. It will probably make for a more interesting race if they can get on the front row of the grid with Verstappen. On Sunday, I found I was watching the gap times, which probably says something about the race. Hamilton is starting to come alive again now he has a more promising car. I think he has shown that he has the legs on Russell. In the 2022 season, Hamilton had some bad luck in some races and Russell was consistent. Unless things go wrong I think this season will be Hamilton's, between the Mercedes guys.

F1 may start to get interesting again. Aston Martin with Mercedes engine and Alonso are close to being a challenge to Red Bull Mercedes have abandoned their lacklustre design and have adopted a design with more prominent sidepods. First driven at Monaco without any pre-season testing and developments. Hamilton qualifies in P5. Monaco GP was eventful and was affected by rain. Hamilton finished 4th and Russell finished 5th. Hamilton got the extra point for fastest lap on lap 33.

I'm not a fan of the sprint format. I was against it when it was first introduced and didn't like how it affected qualifying for the main race. Now it has been separated out so that it has nothing to do with the main race, why not go the whole hog and call it a different formula with different cars and drivers. The whole idea was only about selling more tickets on a Saturday to get more revenue for F1 owners and nothing to do with F1 being the pinnacle of motor sport.

@Edmundo2 With regard to your damaged seat in another thread. I have a friend with a Z3 who had his seats recovered by Sheffield Trimming Co. I have no connection to them but can confirm they did a good job at a good price. It's a bit nearer to your location in Leeds than some other suggested options. When you decide to get it sorted you could give them a call for nothing.

Is Lotus V2.0 and it's relationship with the dealer network starting to soften up? Are they being pragmatic about the direct relationship with customers and all the difficulties that entails?

Don't forget, when making modifications to your car you need to inform your insurer. Failure to inform them might invalidate your insurance.
