For me, it would have to be the carbon rear hatch on the Evora 410 cars.

Why?

Well firstly, and most importantly when thinking of the Lotus Design philosophy, is that it is lightweight. It saves c.25kg in weight, lowering the centre of gravity.

It allows hot air to easily escape from the engine bay, boosting performance.

It's ducktail smooths the airflow and provides additional downforce, contributing to enhanced speed on corners and straights.

In short, it encapsulates everything around Lotus Design philosophy through adding lightness and form to enhance speed everywhere "for the drivers"!

Recognisably a Lotus, even without looking at the badge. Sharp styling, with function - no “faff”. For the drivers, but not great for the bugs...

The Elan +2 packs so much punch in terms of Lotus Design!  Everywhere I drive this car it gets compliments for being everything from cute to sexy, and every time I look at it I feel a strong surge of admiration.  It's stunning from every angle and it's an evocative shape, one that conveys both aggressive speed and refined poise.  Ron Hickman's talents really shine in this car: he penned a masterpiece, and he achieved greatness with it because it's both beautiful and functional.  The fact that he achieved all this while working within the constraints of a tight budget and the incorporation of so many bits from other cars makes it even more amazing, definitely greater than the sum of its parts. It has real style, but it also has great aerodynamics- I've read that even though no wind-tunnel was used in the design, it was later measured at a Cd of .30, and I can drop the windows at 80 mph without any discomfort- no hard buffeting in the cabin, no loud wind noise.  It's a fantastic design, truly effective and worthy of so much more recognition than it usually gets.

Hallo, leider habe ich gerade erst von dem Gewinnspiel erfahren. Daher noch auf den letzten Drücker meinen Beitrag. Da wir unsere elise erst vor kurzem bekommen, haben hier eines der ersten Bilder. An dem Tag wurde sie uns geliefert und meine jüngste Tochter durfte schon mal Platz nehmen als wir Sie in die Garage gefahren haben. Ich hoffe, man kann an ihrem Gesichtsausdruck erkennen, dass sie in dem Moment genauso glücklich war wie ich. Jeden Meter, den man fährt, genießt man und hat einfach Spaß. It was delivered to us that day and my youngest daughter was allowed to sit down when we drove her into the garage. Why I like it :
• As a Photograph Great angle for the evora , nicely placed on converging lines of perspective and colour. Burnt orange very cool and unusual and cleverly matched with light on trees
• Words The “ makes you look “ back is always a go to comment we use and the general sentiment of the words

Why I like it :
• As a Photograph I love the sky and the environment
• I always try to push the importance of form and function in our designs. Chapman was a master of creating cars ( Road and track ) that were technicaly ground breaking and beautiful. Type 14, 25, 72, 79 to mention a few.

The thing that wows me is the Lotus community.  The many fellow enthusiast I met at Lotus Owners Gathering #41 in West Virginia.  Meeting new owners and talking to people that are interested in my Evora S, aka Lamborghini / Ferrari to some.  The design cues by Russell Carr, Gavan Kershaw honing in the vehicle attributes and the way I feel surprised at how good the car drives every time I’m rounding a curve.

• As a Photograph, great angle, lighting and environment. Colours of the car and environment work perfectly together. Great sentimental value to me because the S4/S4s, the basis of of the V8, was the first significant design I worked on.
