Window frames

Would anyone know if the correct colour of the window frames is gloss black or satin black?

I think it's satin or even matt but not gloss.

I'd go with satin rather than gloss as an educated guess but LotusBits would know for certain

The only issue with satin is that there are number of different black satin colours that actually vary considerably.

Can't you get a match to the existing frame?

Stocks used to refurbished them so presumably he would know the code

I think a good rattle can satin black is good enough? That’s what mine are.

Existing frame has been re done yonks ago, and obviously polished a bit, so not sure if gloss or satin, think satin then polished is the way to go

Another vote for satin here. redid mine 12 yrs ago. Still satin.

Did you give it a coat of satin lacquer to stop it chipping?

Would there be any benefit of a satin black powder coat?

It's incredibly resilient stuff having recently had my Europa wheels refinished. Trying to remove the powdercoat to polish the rim and the spokes was unbelievably difficult, so if the frames are out of the car it may be a long lasting solution to have them blasted and coated - This stuff seems impervious to almost anything although I have read that it sometimes doesn't survive down on suspension components.

We'll see as I'm hoping to get the Esprit suspension rebuilt this winter - at least at the rear. Again, reading on here the front suspension can be 'dangerous' to disassemble with those springs.

Powder coat is an interesting thought though perhaps its durability is unneeded in the case of window frames. Are the early Esprit window frames aluminum? If so would the temperature applied in the powder coating process adversely affect the physical properties of the delicate frames?

No mate, frames and windows still on car, no way I'm gonna go to that amount of work removing them 🙄
