The master cylinder for the S4,S4s and S300 are the same, Part No. A082J6147J.

The Slave cylinder is also the same for the S4,S4s and S300, Part No. A082Q6031F.

There is a chap selling an alloy slave cylinder to fit the Esprit on ebay My linkand has stated that it will fit my S4s, but the Part No. is different A082Q6020F.

Will this fit?

I looked at the "parts cross reference" and it just states "Very likely same as 1981-ish (1971-83?) Series III Land Rover, 1961-71 Series IIA".

Does anybody know the exact Part No. or model from landrover that has the same slave cylinder.

Any help, much appriciatetd.

cheers

Dave

The part from Lotus 66.34 + VAT and full members can get 10% off that from Stratton Motor Company so £68.62. Personally I'd look into the effort/reward of hunting down a possible alternative when the genuine part which will be warranted and will probably last another 10+ years is not that much more expensive. Lotus have 30 in stock, you'll have it within 3/4 days.

There were actually two different bore sizes used 5/8" and .70 bore but I'm not sure when the change was actually made. The bore size is stamped on the side of the master cylinder so be sure to get the same size to save a lot of headache.

Or you could have yours relined with a s/s sleeve.

Three years ago I took mine to a brake specialist who fitted the sleeve. Haven't needed to bleed or top it up with fluid since.

Cheers simon,

have order the alloy one off ebay and I will get the lads at Pirtec to make me up a new stainless braide hose with the proper end fitting. I find the lads at Pirtec very helpful and very good value. I rebuilt my steering rack and got these lads to replace all the old corroded steel pipes with stainless braided ones and they tested the hydraulic's for leaks, all for 70euro. They will also be making me new braided hoses for my new oil coolers. My link

I use this Landrover aluminium SIIa slave, and I just made a new thread to suit the hose directly, no adaptor. Old red plastic hose is on the table, and this is where it stayed. New braided hose installed at the same time. And it saves 351 gram. The length of the ppressure pin will remain the same - standard. The length of the special bolt also remain the same - adjusted to 12,5mm. That's on a 1990 SE.

Kind regards,

jacques

I am probably going to need to replace my slave cylinder soon. A few drips of fluid on the floor and the last time I flushed it, I could see a bit of wear inside but it wasn't leading to any leakage yet. So, I see several slave cylinders available for s4 specifically and the ones for a rover. Question, do these generally come with the piston/plunger as well? I imagine they don't come with the rod but figured it would come with the piston/plunger but none of the ads I see show it or mention it.

Thanks

John

Hi,

I am looking for the master cylinder of '92 Lotus Esprit SE.  I have read the thread that the slave cylinder can use Land Rover Series 2 2a.  But I am not sure with the master one.  Would you mind telling me which one can be used?
