What made you UNHAPPY today!

I commute regularly to Fulham in the XJ6, 1973. Did so today. 340R is also ULEZ friendly.

Brooklands is in Surrey so all fine. Ace Cafe has an issue though.

ULEZ is a joke. It is a Labour City Mayor hitting the working classes the hardest. A complete joke to be honest.

Good intentions but very poor implementation and yet more of the "woke" populist approach. We need to do more to protect the environment and change our course, but it needs a more joined up approach and better planning around implementation. For instance, parking facilities to allow people to travel to the outer edge of the zone and then continue on zero emission integrated public transportation. As usual the policy has been implemented and people are then left hanging as the thought and infrastructure provision has not been done.

I'm not a fan of the ULEZ... but it was a Conservative initiative, introduced by Johnson and enforced by Schapps... just saying.

If the ULEZ was a clean air initiative, they'd just ban polluting cars from the zone. I'm pretty sure plenty of places in Europe do this already.

As it goes, it's a money spinner and I doubt much of the £300m they expect from the first year will be spent on clean air programs.

Absolutely correct. For example, you cannot take an Esprit in to Rouen, as I found out earlier this year. Khan’s faux pas on the other hand says, “It’s OK to pollute as long as you pay up.”

Margate Exotics.

On reflection, if you're gonna clean up the air, best stop the regular use of vehicles deemed polluting, rather than ban those vehicles altogether. So I'd say Khan has it right, as it seems unreasonable to me that someone living in London with a non-compliant occasional use classic would be banned from driving it completely.

The charge is designed to pursued those regularly using 'dirty' vehicles to switch to 'cleaner' ones.

Happy days for VW et al, who lied and filled our roads with filthy diesels.

In Bussels the LEZ is a barely disguised tax: you pay a 'fine' of €350 and you're allowed in for 3 months. So just a €1400/year additional tax. Suits me fine, still cheaper than having to buy a boring but compliant vehicle to drive to work. Other cities like Antwerp allow a limited number of day passes, but if you don't comply, the fine can be issued every day and the amount increases each time.

I have made many mistakes in my life. Buying a multiple Lotus is not one of them.

I have one of these to keep me warm, so I don't need a heater in the Workshop:

Nick Freeman a road traffic lawyer says that ulez signs are illegal because they don't tell you any of the consequences.

Problem is it hits the working classes very, very hard. They can little afford to pay the ULEZ nor do they have a few thousand lying around to buy a new car. It feels strange that a Labour (for the workers) party is hitting the very people it is supposed to fight for.

The middle classes in London don't give a shit, they'll pay it regardless and with relative ease and to chalk it down to a lifestyle expense.

God doesn't want me, and the Devil isn't finished with me yet.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

It is nothing to do with clean or dirty vehicles. I signed up yesterday just in case my Excel gets pinged so that I can see if I get pinged. The page is titled "London Road User Charging Account" - as once all the dirty vehicles are gone, all the cameras are in place for pay per mile.

I think I've found a route to get to my hockey club avoiding the cameras - am going to try it during the week. Will report back.

Same problem over here, with some major hospitals in Antwerp and Brussels now inside the LEZ.

I have made many mistakes in my life. Buying a multiple Lotus is not one of them.
