Boeing whistleblower says plane parts had serious defects

would be reluctant to fly on a 737 Max, in case it still carried flaws that originated in the Wichita factory.

"I'd never met a lot of people who were scared of flying until I worked at Spirit," he said.

And then, being at Spirit, I met a lot of people who were afraid of flying - because they saw how they were building the fuselages."

737 evolution has always been a major concern for me.  Essentially the FAA has allowed Boeing to more or less self-certify for years.  The 737 may look similar to its 70s kin, but it is radically different in terms of design and flight envelope.  It should be a new type - several, in fact - but Boeing have massaged the truth for years and, in so doing, saved billions.  And the FAA has looked the other way.

My distrust began way back in the early 90s, when I was privy to operational data.  It's even worse now.

This is why I haven't flown on a 737 for around 30 years.  I will continue to avoid them unless the alternative is a Tupolev.

Strictly my personal opinion, of course. 😉
