If anyone is looking for a cheap 400 the owner of this car is looking for £35k as needs to sell it. He's been trying for a while and just mentioned that he has reduced the price. Car has done 60k miles and recently had big service done, 2x new rear tyres and new battery. Looks like a good buy for someone

I thought this had sold as it has disappeared from the classifieds? Where is it advertised?

A few people have asked where the 400 has been advertised, that there looks to be issues etc so hopefully this will help. I'm on the Lotus Drivers Club what's app groups and the owner pinged an update to one of the groups. If anyone wants his contact details let me know and I'll pass on his number. As I say, I don't know the owner or the car but £35k seems very good value.

**For Sale **
Evora 400 2016. Manual. 2 + 2. 60,000 Miles MOT due Jan 2024, Service 'C' just carried out. FSH from Lotus and Performance garages. —£35,000 —-

I haven’t had any interest in the car. I am now close to needing to dump it off with webuyanycar 😞 price drastically reduced. Open to serious offers of interest.

Selling due to 2nd child, and change in work circumstances means i now need 4 doors, and a station-runner. Was used as ‘touring car’ with friends, and weekend car shows with wife + child. I have owned the car for just over 2 years and done approx. 23,000 miles on the car. It isn’t used for work or commuting, so these are all ‘memory miles’. (Lots of photos). This car has been to 11 different countries in my ownership. Kept in garage overnight.
Service + MOT: recently completed. Service was £2,000 as it was a major one, included 2x new rear tyres on the rear, battery just replaced too. So peace of mind that is covered.
Exterior Condition: Very Good. A few expected stone chip marks on the front, and also the known area by the arch flares. No scratches or dents.
Interior Condition: Very good. Comes with the Red Interior pack, and the 2x rear seats. This car has had a child in the back for many miles, so the rear of the drivers seat has some scuff marks. But only seen with seat down or sitting in the rear.
Engine Condition: Great. Service just carried out, with compression test too. (by Major Lotus garage).
All the usual goodies for this model – rear parking sensors, heated seats, cruise control, CarPlay, etc.
Modifications(2): Suspension is Nitron adjustable shocks and springs. (I can supply the ride height, rake, and spring rates used). And has been corner balanced. All done professionally and with invoices. All fully adjustable and can be changed by new owner if too soft, too stiff, too low or too high.
Exhaust manifold and Sports cat: Made to order by 2ubular, it is the larger(correct) bore for the 400 model. And sports cat. Passed MOTs without issue. Backbox exhaust is still OEM, so retains the manual & automatic valving for quiet motorway use and loud when needed.
I am based near Boston (PE20 postcode), and I work from home so can be quite flexible for viewings. £35,000

I was very tempted by this and had a long conversation with Aaron and the servicing garage back when he wanted £39k - I was tempted, but couldn't make the numbers work. At £35k, it's a great buy however. I think the P/X with WBAC is under £33k now (yikes!).

Selling the Nitron's and 2bular would get you a good chunk of money back too.

Looks to me like the suspension has collapsed all round. Maybe that’s why it’s so cheap?

I'd agree. Something looks awry 🤔

Not necessarily ‘collapsed’. Maybe just adjusted too low?

I’ve been in contact with the seller of the white 400 and whilst it seems a well priced car on the face of it, as always there are things that need to be borne in mind.

I would urge anyone interested to do their homework, I have established the following, amongst other things, from talking to the seller, watching his videos on YT and from another source.  I’m sure there will be lots more, there always is (the stuff you discover after buying!)

- Needs disks and pads all round (MOT advisory)

- Both NS wheels are buckled, attempted repair has failed (MOT advisory)

- Spark plug seized in the block, may require head removal

- Both front lower arms have play and need replacing (as per MOT advisory)

- Crack in sail panel

- Crack in A pillar trim

- Airbag cover starting to lift (this only gets worse!)

- Back box has a rattle

- Clutch is a question mark - car has been tracked several times

- MAF sensor replaced more than once due to oil from a K&N filter, apparently now resolved (vacuum hoses were wrongly connected also)

- Outstanding finance (not insignificant amount!)

The seller is a nice guy who was super helpful, and he is including the original Bilsteins and mani + cats in the sale.  So at the right price and perhaps with new wheels, and other bits sorting, it could be a nice car.

For balance, some plus points, apparently no osmosis, stainless mudflap brackets, poly ARB bushes, very good history (all stamped), new rear tyres and big service.

WBAC quoting £29,200 currently.

For a high(er) mileage white 400 with the marmite red interior and the above issues I don’t think I’d want to pay more than £30k.   Sounds cheap but after spending £5-£10k (possibly more with a clutch) it won’t be a cheap car any longer and will always have 60k plus miles on it…..

So - if anyone is serious, do your homework, you have been warned!

Dave, that was the reasons I walked away

I didn't want post the info here, Aaron sounds like a nice bloke and he's just unfortunate that there are lots of things need doing at the same so didn't want to do the dirty and post it all here.

Most of what you've listed isn't too difficult to sort, but the disk/pads are an easy £3k and the wheels are difficult to get hold of, so I was going to assume I'd have to replace all 4. Lower arms are £1500 as well, so it quickly adds up.

If you can DIY a lot of it, you could have a good car, and I reckon you could get £2k back selling the bits as well.

But yes, as always, do your research and get an inspection.

BCA (trade auction site )  action today for LOTUS EVORA 3.5 V6 400 Coupe - NK65 FDP  ..  seems like the car has some issues (Fault - WHEELS ARE STAGGERED) .. probably some dealer has taken PX and wants to sell it quick

I too have been talking to Aaron but when I've asked questions about if there is anything wrong with the car or does it need any work, it's all gone quiet! He send me a video last night which waa a bit sketchy, so I asked for pictures. On there you can see the worn discs and that's when the messaging went quiet. I agree with others, could be a good car with money spent. I would pay between £30-32K. I also did a WBAC valuation and it came back as just over £29K in perfect condition.

The value is £33k on Motorway - even if they knock him, he'll be better off doing that. Note, the same car was £36.5k in Feb (just checked my valuation email when I was looking at it)....so there's been a big drop in Evora prices for the last 2 months.

It doesn't look like a bargain to me with all the work that needs to be done 🤔

"Outstanding finance" would ring my alarm bells for a start 🤔

This 400 will be an interesting to watch on collecting cars. It’s cream, IPS and 2+0 so I’d say it’s got limited appeal. https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2015-lotus-evora-400

£35,500+Fees (£38k) seems like really strong money for a 2+0 IPS which looks like it's not had a particularly easy life. That being said, I suspect the suspension is worth a pretty penny alone. Ohlins for the Evora are £8k!

…..and it was a development car, not even a production model.   The seller stated that in the comments well before the auction ended but that didn’t stop the bidding war.   Madness….

7 owners but Lotus do churn as folk can often only justify a specialist sports car for a short period.

Certainly worth a look.

I remember a couple of months back when this forum had a couple of posts a week. I've tried to catch up and it's three pages of non stop action. Although prices have slipped at the middle and higher end it appears that at least the market is moving again.

Going to devalue mine a bit more taking it to South of France in June 😉

I think that if I tried to buy a car identical to mine nearly nine years later same mileage etc it would still be the same price from the dealer which is pretty amazing.

Until interest rates drop there's going to be people who need to exit expensive cars pretty quickly, just look at the Emira market 😬

This is such a great place to do your homework though and avoid a nasty surprise. Well done to all those who are way more active than me providing buyers tips and help.
