  1. Reassuring use of cable ties 🧐 For sale or exchange for 911…☹️
  2. I think I probably removed mine after the dash was out for recolouring.
  3. I seem to recall the round 'knee coolers' are held on by tiny nuts from behind.
  4. Shouldn't you have a BMW across both lanes? Unless it's only a theory lesson...
  5. No more risky than buying any other way, as long as you check out what you're buying (or have bought) properly. Buyer beware and all that. Not presuming to know what caused this fire but it could happen to any Esprit just bought or even in long term ownership if it's the result of a bit of neglect, an ageing fuel pipe or suchlike. Sad to see either way and I really hope that the owner can get it repaired or at least had it well enough insured to replace it.
  6. Or the dog's had a blue rinse
  7. Sounds like a bit of 1970s Dralon might be close to the mark?

    Paul Simon’s mate…
  9. Problem is, the oiks that we’re damaging cars and smashing up bus stops etc 10 years ago are now the parents…🙄
  10. I had one pod stick up. That turned out to be dirty connections on the motor bushes causing that motor to be weak. Removed, stripped and cleaned and it was fine again.
  11. Yes, normally we are a 3 night minimum stay (to make it viable with changeover costs) but there can be some flexibility on that in low season or when there are no events on (e.g. Goodwood). We love dogs but we have resident horses and a cat so, unfortunately we can't take dogs in our accommodation. My wife does look after another cottage down the road in West Ashling which can take dogs so hopefully that would work for you. Here's a link to that on her website: https://www.finishingtouch.co.uk/properties/chi001-chichester-west-sussex-uk/
  12. Thanks Bibs, you’d be very welcome 👍
  13. Hope it's OK to post this here... After 2 years of hard work, the first of 2 self-catering apartments in our converted barn is finally open for business! It's available to book via my wife's own holiday website at the link below. It's on Airbnb too but there you have to pay them an additional service fee. https://www.finishingtouch.co.uk/properties/chid001-chichester-west-sussex-uk/?r=e7021e0b We're located in the village of Chidham in the AONB, right on the edge of Chichester Harbour and only about 15 mins drive from Goodwood Motor Circuit. If you're coming to any Goodwood events or just fancy a few days away in the country, we'd be really grateful if you'd consider us. We have secure, private off road parking with CCTV right next to the barn so, if you're bringing a special car it'll be safe with us. If I were going away in my Esprit, it's the kind of place I'd be happy to park it overnight. Thanks.
  14. Very cool indeed Barry, love ‘em. Well done 👍 Look forward to reading about your progress with it.
  15. There's no shortage of Muppets and scammers on Gumtree and Facebook Marketplace. In my experience, anyone who actually wants your stuff will be completely straightforward/normal. Anything else is usually a scam or just someone who wants to mess you about.
  16. I once followed a van that proudly proclaimed 'Your safe in our hands'. I don't think they were bank robbers... 🤨
  17. Someone had to be the first...🙄
  18. We're generally tethered to the homestead these days because of the horses but it's the current Mrs H's 60th later in the year so we're off to Iceland/Belfast/Guernsey on a cruise for (I think) 11 nights. Never been to Iceland but heard good things so we're looking forward to that.
  19. No, but I've often thought about trying it for small scuffs etc. Be interested if anyone has done it already too.
  20. I do pretty much whatever I can on my Esprit, as well as the other cars in our household, family members' cars and the few other classics that pass through my hands each year. Usually I'm only limited by not (yet) having a lift in the garage for better underside access or lacking specialist equipment for certain jobs like tracking etc. I'll even do a bit of localised paintwork if I have to but generally I don't have the right conditions for bigger paintwork jobs and I'm a perfectionist so obvious rattle can finish isn't going to cut it... Mostly it's enjoyable (I think) and I'm saving money at the same time as knowing a job is getting done right.
  21. Just spotted this on FB Marketplace: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/649467366552256/ Never seen those dash speakers in an Excel before. Are they factory or added by a PO?
  22. Yes, even my late (1990) Excel was on the V5 as an Eclat. That one looks like it’s had a few mods. Certainly not the right door mirrors for that year and nor are they Lotus ones…
