Someone who asked one of the senior Lotus team about colour samples at one of last week’s roadshows.

I’d also raised it with Scott at the B&C event and Lotus were already looking at whether they could get some larger panels painted in time for later roadshows.

It's taken me ages to decide my colours.

If they start showing me large panels it might not actually help me! 

If Lotus turn around and say that they have listened to feedback and are nor making the green a lot lighter it would make a HUGE change to our preferences. Green was originally the most favoured.

I sent this image into Lotus, along with a request that they allow their paint company to color match the green that's on the configurator, as it's the one everyone who wants green, wants.  The samples they've sent out aren't even close.  The color has too much blue in it, and comes across as cold and uninviting.  The green in the configurator is beautiful, rich, warm and exactly what I want.  I received confirmation today that the people in charge of this at Lotus have received what I sent in, so I'm hoping they'll be open to making the change.  I also requested samples of the remaining 4 FE colors be put on either entire cars, or at least some body panels such as a door, hood, etc.  Due to the inaccuracy of the configurator compared to the paint samples that have shown up, it's very difficult to make a color choice for a car that costs this much.  We need better and more accurate color examples.

 

 

I sincerely thank all of you who have posted pictures of the samples you've seen at the showings.  It's been both a blessing and a curse lol.  I was all set on Dark Verdant, and Nimbus Grey was the last color I would have chosen.  Now I'm extremely hesitant about Verdant, and actually find I like the Nimbus Grey based on the samples some of you have posted.  The configurator is doing a serious injustice to some of these colors.  My greatest hope is they'll get their paint supplier to match the green on the configurator.  With today's digital color matching scan technology, they should be able to do it.

When Lotus launched the Evija, they made a big thing about having the very latest top end technology for their configurator. Customers would be invited to a special studio to select their specifications, with the images being as close as possible to the finished article. Perhaps they could have brought a version of that technology to the road shows?

Here are some samples I pulled from the House of Kolor paint company that are much closer to the green shown in the configurator, so paint in that color is definitely available.

Lotus really cannot be so stupid as to change the colour once they have sent samples out

But a really dark green is a win for me (until a venom / isotope appears)

I would expect the samples are accurate colours. The differences highlighted by @Eagle7 in his picture will be variables introduced at the time of taking the picture due to lighting and the equipment used to take the picture.

Back to topic but I put my deposit down in March and no call from lotus yet! Also picked up my fe elise 6 weeks ago, still no soft top and passenger door handle wasnt attached so wouldnt open!. Just laughed as I have had lotuses before, but they have 6 months to reach porsche quality… really hope that is possible..

I placed my deposit online on the 27th July, and I’ve been to the Rybrook Bristol roadshow day. 

Such an excruciating wait for the phone to ring to firm up the order! 

I’m looking for a V6 manual FE. But if the timelines are getting tight on the FE run I could be persuaded on a different spec altogether.

Got my call today. I placed my first payment on 11th July. I'm going for FE V6 Manual. I asked the Lotus caller where I am in the list and he told me that I'm about number 1200 of the total priority orders and number 800 of the FE V6 orders.

Sounds like they are definitely upping production then, as 800 would be a 1.5 year wait at the original numbers which I was told 500-600 per year uk allocation

Useful info. That suggests a higher proportion now going for V6 FE than the initial indications of 50/50 two weeks ago.

Yes, it’s been increased to 1000-1100 for UK for 2022. Unclear at the moment if that is due to re-assigning global allocations or adding a second shift at some point.

Any spec other than V6 FE is going to be later.  UK V6 FEs should all be delivered in 2022, a few might spill over into early 2023.

Exciting, but it’s going to feel like a long wait (and I’m early in the list)!

Well, some of us have been told conflicting messages, even from senior Lotus staff.

The i4 FE Was originally due in late Summer/Early Autumn of 2022, a good few months after the V6 releases but we have heard that it might now be January 2023. Until they put something firm on the websites or socials we won't know for sure - and even then it might be subject to change.

The own spec cars are still showing as Spring 2023 - that might even be put back should Lotus see more profit in the FE car spec sales.

yeah, similar story. One senior Lotus staff member saying definitely only 1 shift and others reporting that they will meet the demand - which is a lot higher, in the UK and globally.  it is this demand that seems to be pushing everything else back.

As more and more people are somewhat frustrated with the delay in the i4 and own-spec cars then even more will plump for the V6 FE.  In which case, can we not expect Lotus to meet that demand and push back the others even further out?  The only way to know meet Lotus buyers' expectations is, at some point, next year, 2 shifts finishing off the V5 FE cars and one shift making the i4 FE cars - which then moves over to 3 or 3 shifts for own spec cars.  What we or Lotus don't know yet is the level of demand for the Emira when the Summer/Autumn of 2022 comes.

Let's not even  dare think about other factors such as a bad winter covid, supply issues and logistic failures.

This is continuing what looks like a "call them as the deposits come in' BUT after July.

By the time they have finished all of those, the earlier depositors in June, May, April and even March might not get their call until they have the actual cars 😄

They are the exact small car models they need/needed at the Roadshows to show how the light plays off the curves

They're called 'Speed forms' I believe, very smart and do show the colour well.

Yes seen lots of other manufacturers use them. You would have thought Lotus would already have small models of the Emira as well as part of the development process
