Ukraine

The other side of the Pond agrees that our focus should be on Ukraine.  The Israel and Palestine issue has been around much longer than Putin's delirium to assimilate the former lands of the Soviet Union. I prefer avoiding a future war involving NATO and its allies. I believe Israel/Palestine issue has a higher chance of starting a war than Putin with Ukraine.  I can only hope these conflicts stop eventually. but it's hard to see any way to stop these people.

In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

I believe even most of the Russian population would agree with this statement as the rest of the world.

The situation appears well managed and prospects for our side are encouraging as things now stand. The Afghan debacle of the '80's Soviet Union is instructive and pertinent but the outcome in today's situation may be managed to a degree by either China or, to a lesser degree, by India. A new reality which was not in the least a factor back in Afghanistan. Still, I expect both Modi and Xi have better things to pursue than propping up such a failed state.

Typical sabre rattling of a typical bully. Do as I say, not as I do, or else!

To be honest, Russia is a big country. Ukrainians are tough, resourceful, resilient, and have a good sense of humour. Remind you of any island nation you may know?

With Russia being such a big country I am sure that even though it has already happened, it will happen much further, due to the similarities in circumstances. And that is the development of Ukraine's own equivalent to the men  of ungentlemanly warfare, namely the SAS and SBS.

In future years we'll be watching films of their exploits and daring do's as they travel incognito to the depths of Russia to bomb, and blow up stuff. Runways. Planes. Fuel depots. Dacha's. Etc.

God doesn't want me, and the Devil isn't finished with me yet.
