Any recommendations on E bikes

Depends on what you are planning to do with it?   Prices vary from a few hundred pounds to +£10k

Hub drives are cheap and cheerful, ideal for going to the shops. 

Any serious off road use needs a centre drive but the price goes up exponentially.

I built one a couple of years ago from a kit, but I now tend to use my standard 'non assisted' mountain bike much more.  i.e I think the electric bike helped build up a fitness level and I now take more pleasure in my mountain bike.

Whatever you do Bibs, try and go with one that has a Bosch motor and Bosch battery. I have had a Bergamont Helix (I think Bergamont is made in Hamburg) for over 2 years, 2500+ kms and absolutely no problems. Good solid Teutonic engineering 👍

I currently have 4 (😕) - 3 years into e bikes!

1st was the breadknives old mountain bike converted with a Befang kit.

2nd is a BMC full suspension Mountain bike - BMC's own with Shimano motor (no issues to date)

3rd is a BMC full suspension conversion (again) with my old Mountain Bike

4th is a Moustache ladies eBike (faster than the BMC) - Bosch motor

All are regularly used for circa 30 mile runs around East Devon.

My experience with e bikes is that you have the work-out you feel comfortable with, hills are not an issue, you enjoy the ride and the places you ride to. Off road is a blast and I look forward to bumpy uphill climbs.

You don t have to be a 100 mile per ride fitness fanatic to ride one of these.

Tony - I take it your wife doesn't mind your e-bikes in the kitchen/living room 🤣

You'll be cleaning up the derailleur and chain with Gunk in the dishwasher next 😉

My advice to Bibs is try one then buy one. You won't regret it. And as Tony says they're great for those daunting hills and 30 mile trips. Mine even has turbo mode so the 15 mile trip to the pub gets me there quicker 😉

My first thought is to wonder why you need one to get to the pub. One of those E-scooters would be cheaper.

I'll have you know it's a whole 77 footsteps for Bibs to get to the pub. On the way back there's a fair few more, apparently.

Definitely not cheating - you’ll go further and use the bike more often.

I actually run a business doing conversions (higher power, more range, less cost than factory options) but whichever way you go you won’t look back!

I looked at ebikes, then I thought why not an electric Motorbike then? 

And then I saw this and went, Yeah screw anything electric. Now I have to clean out the Garage!
