European Breakdown Cover

Tin Hat

Recommended Posts

Hi Gents,

Happy 2024

We plan to take an Esprit to the continent this summer, and I had assumed that there would be plenty of insurers offering breakdown cover.

From a 30 minute Google session, I was unable to find anyone who would offer cover, I have no idea why, but has anyone managed to gain European breakdown cover in the relatively near past, and if so, please can you advise who provided it?

thanks in advance,

Willy

Thanks, I’m with the AA so I will sound them out - I thought that I would be overwhelmed with quotes?!

FJ sneaked euro insurance cover into being an optional extra a few years back as I discovered retrospectively on renewal that the previous years trip in my Excel was not covered whereas the year befores was. I think that it is back included now.

For breakdown cover I've had great service with the RAC.

I'm with ClassicLine insurance and have breakdown cover included in the policy - covers for UK and Europe (plus a few other countries)

also with Classicline......

"UK & European Breakdown assistance – You will be covered for roadside assistance and recovery if your vehicle breaks down on the road at least one mile away from your home address and / or the agreed storage address"

FJ costs me £75 p.a. for the Esprit as an extra to my policy with them. Well worth the money.

Taking the Elise this year, so will have to find cover - that is insured with Hasting Direct.

So, for anyone who is curious, the AA were the only people who ultimately provided a cost, for 12 months including Portugal and Spain (they zone areas) it’s a not inconsiderable £355.00 or £ 303.00 if you are already a member

  • 2 months later...

And on a final note, I now have European cover as part of my annual insurances with Chubb, together with UK recovery, so all sorted!
