What made you happy today?

@Dan E I've not had too many major issues on materials, but then I've got bits from here and bits from there and not always found what I need/would expect in stock at the first place I've looked. Avoiding the trade biased builders merchants and obvious places helped.  (ie For timber - Campions was 2/3rd the price of Travis Perkins and had the stock - and it's C24 not 18).

The whole house has been done internally (except the Kitchen which is on my list, but the leaky roof included the bay window in the kitchen). Realistically whilst the pitched roof makes a big different I'm not sure that there is a lot more I can do to improve the looks of it. It's never going to appear on a picture postcard. Location, Location, Location so they say.

Blessed with the competence to be a slave to the incapable.

Currently without a Lotus, Evora 400 Hethel Edition in Racing Green with Red leather and 2010 Evora N/A in Laser Blue and 1983 Lotus Excel LC Narrow body in Ice Blue all sadly gone.

So after all that time to make a decision I took 2 weeks off work.

Still got a fair bit to do (new front door pulled forward, fit windows, garage door, flashings and fascias), but making a big difference.

Yes @Barrykearley that fascia is every bit as banana shaped as it looks - you really do not want to know how that was built in the 70s :wallbash:

That new roof format has made a real difference Colin. Unbelievable that the Planning Dept. were so anal about it all.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

@C8RKH The real kicker was that in the officers report it actually says

"This pitched roof would provide a more attractive front elevation"

Well D'oh!

The real issue was just getting a response out of them.

Isn't that totally subjective? Or is personal choice how they operate?

Don't go there, I had a planning office tell me he didn't like loft conversions so he would never approve them😠

Yes, but in this case only the blind would state otherwise. See above before and during!

After a run to Exeter to collect my eldest from A&E on Saturday morning - another admission into Worcester hospital on Saturday evening - she was discharged last night with the appropriate meds and is now back in Exeter at her digs. What a feckin weekend that was. Don’t even mention the wife - that’s not for this thread 🤬

Wasn't today, but still happy about it today. Became a Dad for the first time, beautiful baby girl born yesterday evening.

27 years ago I was the very proud Dad of a beautiful baby girl. The 27 years since have been a roller coaster of joy, happiness, pain and grief. I would not swap it for anything!

Glad everyone is well and healthy and very much send you my heartfelt best wishes for you all for the future. Nothing, beats being a Dad!

A few calories burned there!

Bit inspired by a post above showing 1 chain saw and a small number of logs, I currently have 4 electric chain saws (1 dead)  and a battery one (for light weight work). The piles have been building for several months.

I’ve got a tree we took down this year filling my log store, but needs to season for future years. This year however I have a fair load of large roof timbers from the old flat roof. Not sure what to do with them, considering chopping them up for the log burner, but seems a bit of a waste.
