@Kimbers, if you become a gold member you get a free ValetPro starter pack, get involved (or visit valetpro.eu and buy some of their stuff, it's very good!).

Try finding a supplier in Norfolk! Think there is one at the top North East corner (West Rudham?) but otherwise it is slim pickings. Have looked at their website but can't even see the snow foam sprayer on there that @Jayemm reviewed a while back. I applaud this guy's work ethic but they need to get more distributors IMHO.

Why do you need a pastry brush for car cleaning anyway?

Is the price for that bit in Yen or £?

Got a lovely quote from insurance ( slow day at work, still day dreaming of an Exige )

Exige S - £2100 a year, not bad considering 24 years of age in August and 4 years NCB but a clean record, license for 6 years

Exige Sport 350... £3400. *FAINT*

Nearly fell of my bloody chair, not a happy camper, my heart is set on a 350 for the linkage, louvres and updated interior ( DPM mainly ) but jesus this is gonna hit hard.

I tried AIB and they were ashamed to admit they wouldn't insure me - but my license is clean, no claims or tickets ever.

Aib sure did want exactly that Pete. When I rung them to cover my S4 - they were very much - oh you must be able to show experience of these cars - that’s ok I say - check the last two policies I had with you 👍

I currently have a 5-year agreed premium (subject to there being no major 'material changes' in the schedule) insurance policy for the non-Lotus cars on the household fleet. Even when I swapped-out our old MG ZT-T diesel dogmobile for a much newer and twice as powerful SAAB 9-3 a couple of months back, that wasn't even deemed significant enough of a change to affect the premium.

So when the annual renewal notice (for year 3 of the 5) arrived in the post this morning, I thought it would be no more than the formality it was this time last year - simply check the details and file the new certificate away. However, I couldn't help but notice that the 'premium due' figure this time around was somewhat different to the previous 2 - it had jumped up by over £100 on the sum that had initially been quoted and agreed.

Straight on the phone I went - fortunately my 'platinum customer' status furnishes me with a dedicated number that gets through to a human being within seconds rather than spending the rest of my life listening to a recording telling me that "your call is important to us; you are currently position 697 in the queue".

It transpires that there has in fact been a 'material change' of sufficient stature to trigger this renewal increase. Apparently my inability to move my 44-tonne truck out of the path of a C-Class Merc on the M74 one night last year when its driver fell asleep at the wheel and subsequently rammed into the back of my trailer makes me now a much higher risk to insurers, :realmad: .

Being the up-front chap I am, I informed my insurer at the time (as one is obliged to do) but thought little more about it other than to remember to plan my work rota around my 'witness for the prosecution' appearance at the forthcoming court case. Now my honesty has come back to bite and it's probably too late to try and recover the additional costs, more as a matter of principle than anything, from the 3rd party.

Do insurance companies just make these things up as they go along?

In Australia, if you are not at fault, there is no increase in premium that I have seen, or an effect to your NCB. Mind you, if it seems to be everywhere else, it is just a matter of time until it gets here I suppose.

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

F**king hell. Fourth time in 9 months the engine fault light has come in in my Peugeot 3008.

  1. Aug 2017 - in Slovenia, One injector replaced
  2. Dec 2017 - wastegate issue - no turbo
  3. Feb 2018 - other 3 injectors replaced
  4. just now - sitting in a queue for the local council dump

! reckon it's (2) again.

Really really pissed off.

Even more so that I have the proper diagnostic software, but can't find the Peugeot connector :( , and the cheapo OBD2 Bluetooth reader won't connect to the car -  will connect to & read my wife's 107.

Sounds like it is ahead of its time.

It's not lawyers behind it. It's evangelical Christians as I u/s it. The parents are understandably desperate - but the evil shits behind this ridiculous legal action will move onto the next one as soon as this one is ended. All publicity is good publicity etc etc

Not really today but I'll post here anyway.

I had my Evora serviced recently at a well known main dealer. As part of the work they replaced the brake fluid as per recommended interval.

Not long after on a drive the brakes didn't feel right. Very spongy on second press of pedal. Later on that drive they almost vanished with the pedal almost going to the floor.

By now the car was 200 miles from the servicing garage so I arranged for a local specialist to take a look.

They found air in the rear brakes and a lot of contamination in the brake fluid reservoir.

Not good if the dealer had not bled the brakes properly. Fortunately I was not driving in a spirited manner and noticed the change.

I have provided feedback to the dealer so that they can invesitgate and if necessary improve their procedures so this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Would be interested in what the dealer does to recompense you / make this right. That could have been life threatening and is truly shocking

I'm not asking for anything. Just don't want them to do it again. Doubt I will use them again.

It's not about you asking for anything its about them doibg the right thing. Not being a drama queen in saying it could have killed you, or worse, you could have killed someone else.

So even an assurance and evidence about how they will ENSURE it never happens again would be good recompense.

Patience. I've provided all the facts and we are communicating amicably. I want to make sure there isn't a potential underlying condition and it looks like there is a possibility that they have seen before where the master cylinder leaks fluid into the servo.

sadly my job which i loved has turned over the years into 70% paperwork and dealing with utter incompetent unaccountable  council jobs worth..

paperwork aside

as an example dealing with a conservation officer 24 years old, degree in architecture, a 1 year add  on to make her heritage consultant specialist.

born in belgium, moved to uk at 18. so basically 6 years education,  2 month in to the employment world,

thinks a 12.5 mm British Gypsum  plasterboard (invented in the 1930's)  and studwork wall is original in an 18th century listed building, so recommended a refusal on an application because of such..

to make matters worse her "team leader" response. was take it to appeal weve not got time to look at it again under this application!!!

very helpful that..

Trouble is anything in situ at time of the listing is covered by the listing even if it is not original

yes, agreed but her argument was that the two walls were original to the house in 1800s both  in position and materials. both were incorrect..,

they realised and admitted  they've completely balls up.. but the attitude was tough. do another application then we will pass it..

another 8 weeks ..of time and client money..
