ICE it Ian...4x50w head unit with sub lead, 5 channel amplifier behind the passenger seat, front speakers via passive crossovers to tweeters in can't rails, 6 x 9s in the rear bulkhead and to top it off 1000w sub woofer in the boot.

You and Shan can then sit with the boy racers in Tesco car park until the early hours, blasting out the hip-hop and learning a whole new meaning to garage.

I have no idea what all that means. Is a sub woofer a dog underneath the telly?

May be some ideas here. I don't know anything about ICE either but I researched a bit and took advice from a few members here for my upgrade.

Turned out well and everything looks standard except the door mounted tweeters which are a reversible upgrade as they sit in the ashtray positions.

Not worth starting anything now...🍺

Says a man on page 39 of his thread...

I'd say it's mostly fine now with the earths run from head unit and amp to a single chassis earthing point. There is an occasional feint tick under heavy engine load but with the music turned up and engine/road noise it's not noticeable. Hence I haven't pursued it any further.

I really should get a couple of RCA lead suppressors to nail it completely...

As to the speakers, I have no idea how old they are whether they're replacements or if they are the originals, and again it might be beneficial to replace them with something a little more up to date.

Lightweight response in that Neil thread Ian, if you simply want straight replacements and on the "keep it original" track, then replace them with similar Clarions. They fill the holes and look nice.

Page 39? It only seems like yesterday when I kicked it all off. Maybe I should forget the damn thread and instead concentrate more on fixing the car. There's so much in bits, I need to focus on what I need to do.

@swindon_alan yes, I had another look just now, and I'm tending to agree with that course of action at least that's today's assessment.

@eeyoreishOf course I could set a hare running by saying you need to fit lead sandwich insulation to cure your ticking noise, but I won't.

That would be great!

Apologies Ian, late back last night and it's the end of the quarter so had to catch up today. Tomorrow will be easier so will do some pics in the morning for you. Oh and rip the boot floor out and top up the gearbox oil ahead of Henley as both my bloody driveshaft seals have decided to weep over the winter. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR..........

No probs, Alan.

Do you have to remove the boot floor to top up the gearbox? Best you ask Barry; I've heard he's very knowledgable in such matters.

Yeah, no low entry ramps or a lift. I hate getting under the thing anyway as it is so low. It's a pain. However, the boot floor comes out easily as most of the rivnuts are buggered! Yet another job, eh!

If you're putting lead sound insulation in the speaker holes, put a plastic speaker isolator dish between the speaker and the lead to reduce the risk of shorting the connections.

You can do it without on a four post lift........ but it's sooo much easier getting the floor out - you know replacing rivnuts makes sense

Thanks Alan, can you possibly let me have one more? Where the A-pillar meets the caaant rail and the header rail. Just need to see how they sit together at the top of the A-pillar, so I can assess whether I need to modify the RH caaant rail.

Just thought I'd cheer you up a bit, the obligatory pic of carpets cut and awaiting the finishing touches. DSC_0151.thumb.JPG.c506c9824bed1500cee5ab973f0fb360.JPG

Dare you to do some donuts on the carpets with the bike Steve. Give them some texture and patina. Ian is absolutely up for the well used look. A friend of Sparky and all that...
