other than that, I have a question for you guys. On my 400, I had very nice backfire sounds when downshifting at low speed, which I don’t have now on my 430 (600km only on odometer). Any idea or thoughts?

Did your 400 have exhaust valve button and did the pops and crackles only happen when valve was open?

If I remember correctly the 430 doesn't have an exhaust value button?  (I think to comply with some new regulations) The exhaust valve is preset to open at certain revs (~4K rpm???) its not manually controllable.  Maybe this prevents the exhaust from sounding as characterful as it could be?

In fact the 400 had an Exhaust Valve Button, which I always left switched On (valve open).

but also in my GT430, I had the same button installed and they did the necessary ECU mapping. It works same as on 400. Sound is amazing specially at high  revs. But there are no backfires (or quiet one) on slow rev downshifting. I did notice though, that combustion is much more optimized on my 430 then the 400 MY16 (maybe that is the reason?) and no MAF sensor issues till now (unlike 400).

any ideas?

All,

I'd like to introduce myself. I'm Dave and I'm currently on my 4th Lotus which is an Exige V6. I am wanting to upgrade to the GT430 but I have hit a stumbling block with my insurance company that they won't insure over £66k.

While I appriciate this isn't an insurance thread, it is a GT430 one and I would like to know those companies that the current owners like Trvor, Bibs etc use if possible. I really do not want to go to the standard insurance sites so I'm looking for specialists in the area.

Thanks guys and great forum btw.

DCMP.

This is due to the new emissions standards worldwide which are law from next month.

@dcmp, give @AIBinsurance a call, I'm sure a few of our GT430 owners use them with their 'high net worth' or whatever it's called posh policy. Ask for amazing Leah, tell her you've been directed to her via TLF and hopefully she'll be able to help.

Thanks Bibbs, actually I spoke with Matt who was very helpful. It's a little over my exige quote but then I expect it to be given the value difference. I have put myself at ease with the promise of 6 track days should I wish to use them, and breakdown cover internationally. The only negative thing is they couldn't guarantee the replacement price. Not sure what the implications of that are...but I'm happy!

Pics please :D

Fancy joining us on the TLF stand at the party David?

I am working on getting to the stand bibs but I think I was late to the party - fingers crossed I'll be there though. As far as pics go, it's not a car you guys are unfamiliar with from what I've read so you have already seen it.

It's quite Racy!

You've done well there then, congrats on a fantastic car!

If you can make it onto our stand, I've got tickets for you and you'll be very welcome to join us if you can

Hi Bibs, I'd love the tickets please. I'll be coming in the car obviously and bringing one other person. Thanks very much!
