Good to hear about Bell and Colvill being well regarded. How were they on negotiations?

I cannot say I negotiated very hard on my Evora. The 1 year warranty was a large attraction to me, knowing I would do 10000 miles+. I wanted the car as it has cocobolo leather with carbon grey coachwork which I found very fetching. I basically asked what the best was, which was attractive compared to other cars for sale given the warranty; and said yes.

I did not even drive it! However, I have driven a few before and since, all thanks to Jamie at Bell Colvill. I am sure he will let you enjoy an extended test drive.

You will get great back-up from them. The owner Andy loves his dealership and the staff love Lotus. Most have been there for years. They don't feel like a main dealer....that is a compliment as most main dealers for any marque make me feel ill.

+1 for Jamie at Bell and Colvill he is vary fair in my experience and will work to get you a good deal but at the end of the day he has, of course, overheads to meet so can only go so far. He is very accommodating in making sure the car meets your requirements.

My old Evora is up for sale there with a red interior which is lovely IMHO. There is also a very nice black Evora 410 which would be worth considering although it’s slightly more money.

Thanks all, good advice and info. Yes, will definitely let you know how I get on.

I did look at the 410 sport at Bell and Colvill but unlikely to work for me as a) I'm after a daily drive so more road than track b) the carbon seats sound like they fit you perfectly or they don't - no half ways c) that car was a media demo car and there are many fine video's of it going sideways. It looks like the normal delta between a 400 and a 410 sport is around £10k. But if I do visit Bell and Colvill I will take a look at it and check out the seats.

For road use, I think 400 ideal. I drove a 410 and I found it a bit jiggly. So PLEASE drive before you buy...ignoring wot I gonna dun!

Justin

PS. I will now get slated by 410 owners.

OK - OK - I'm feeling the overwhelming love for the red interior from you all. So will keep an open mind until I see it in the flesh.

Any suggestions for things to look out for? I've heard about the squeaky seats (with the semi-fix), and ignore the lowish quality audio. What else? Looks like the car at Bell & Colvill has been with them well over six months - could be closer to 12.

Yep, that is my motor. Now on L400 TYP. Such a wonderful weapon, one of the best cars I have ever owned. Never to be sold, life permitting.

Where was this snap taken?

Market was very quiet in 2019. That changed on 13 December, I have no idea why. Dealers sold quite a few cars on that Friday.

I would not concern yourself too much about a Lotus hanging around on the forecourt. It is the nature of the beast in a specialist area of car sales. On the rare occasion I sell a Lotus, it can take a while and then usually two want it at the same time.

@jep I took that picture at B@C out in their back car park when they first got the car back in 2014, and I test drove it. Jamie managed to sell me a white Evora S instead  Did very much like the Cocobolo Interior.

I believe it was an ex management car, driven by  one Martin Donnelly :) I remember it came back in to B&C a few years later and assume that’s when you brought it

took these pictures at the time too...

@internets great, thanks so much for these pics. You are a Santa.

Yep, Martin D did have the car first, which appeals to me (though I had no idea when I bought it in March 2018) as I am a bit of a Lotus anorak and do love a car with some factory connection. I have a S1 Elise, the first owner was Julian Thomson, so the Evora fits right in on that score.

Apparently, my Evora is on its original clutch, now at 63,000 miles, so a bit of factory work does not seem to have done it any harm. It drives like new, appears quite rapid for 276bhp and the carbon grey is just such a neat colour. According to the book 'Sublime Supercar', it is the colour that the designers most favoured. I am not sure the cocobolo wins such an accolade but I love it. Mind you, I had a S1 Esprit with the brown cabin (and loved that).

Wasnt there a story that Julian t. Tried to buy the car back but could not?

I don't think so. He sold the car after 18 months or so, as he had no time to use it. It stayed with same owner 'til 2017, when I bought it.

Julian bought a 160 S1 in I think 2016, having decided, to use his words 'I should own the car I take the blame for'.

Julian still has his Dino 246, which he has owned since 1985.....the view of the front wing influenced the Elise and you can see that every time you perch in an S1.

Hi Folks,

I've been looking for an Evora for what seems like ages and this one has cropped up not too far away from me. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about the car and could perhaps advise me. Also it's done quite a lot of miles. What do you think?

Thanks,

Dave

Sorry I don’t know anything about this particular car, but looks a great price for a sports racer and yes high on mileage but wouldn’t worry me seeing it’s had a clutch change, it’s a NA so cheaper on tax and insurance and in some people minds a better car than a S. Is 65k high mileage not in this day and age? People buy other high performance cars with similar mileage and they are not probably as reliable as a Lotus and cost a lot more to repair.

My Evora has done similar mileage and drives like new.

Sports Racers were fully loaded so it wants for nothing. Clutch done in 2018, which is the only likely big bill on an Evora.

I don't know the car or the owner but it reads well. Price seems attractive too.

@ColinP has a lovely motorsport green 400 with the red leather. I see it for a few days every year when we go to the IoM and it never fails to make me just go "wow". It gets used by Colin but always looks superb and the MSG / Red combo has to be THE best out there for a 400, closely followed by Essex Blue and Red Interior, like the ones @CocoPops and @PaulCP had. Also lovely cars.

God doesn't want me, and the Devil isn't finished with me yet.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

Keep up at the back. That was posted in the GTE thread on 21.11.19. It’s gone to Komo-Tec, Germany and presumably on to a new owner from there.

Fair enough...…..I had not seen that and thought it was good value, no wonder Komo-Tec bought it.
