  1. I was chatting to a friend of mine yesterday who moves lots of new cars round for dealerships. Normally he's moving several EVs a week between dealers for customers but over the last few weeks it's dropped off a cliff. From the conversations he's had it seems that many people now just don't want them due, in part, to the depreciation and plenty of customers are cancelling their orders. Maybe also related to the government pushing out the dates and a feeling that there's less hurry to change and that better technology/alternatives will come along in the meantime.
  2. Great! Just drop me a PM when you know 👍
  3. Very cool 😎 Will he be able to insure it??
  4. Just noticed that the tickets have actually arrived as separate Saturday and Sunday tickets so I could sell the Saturday and Sunday ticket separately if a couple of people want to go on different days. That would be £28 for the one day so a good saving over the usual £35 advance price or £38.50 'on the day' price for one day.
  5. For reasons of my own stupidity (forgot to check who was going 🙄) I have a spare weekend ticket (Saturday & Sunday) for this years classic car show at the NEC on 11th & 12th November. Normally me and 3 mates go for the weekend but 1 has dropped out this year so here I am with a spare, non-refundable ticket that I don't need. In order to rectify the situation I'd like to sell it to someone who was thinking of going but hasn't got their tickets yet. Anyone here fit that profile? I bought them with some club discount so they're a couple of quid cheaper than usual and certainly cheaper than buying them on the day. Just looking for the £54.00 face value for it. PM me if you want it or know someone who does. It's an e-ticket so can send you the ticket in advance or meet you in the NEC foyer on the Saturday morning if you prefer. Thanks!
  6. Some people just like to make a life out of complaining about what other people are doing ☹️
  7. In theory a lot of this stuff is the standard Euro spec product but supplied into Japan with a few regional variations like km speedo, language packs etc. Sometimes there might even be bonus options like aircon not originally offered in other markets. I’ve never done it but did look at some imported Jag XJSs a while back as they tend to be rot free. From that i know that things like rustproofing can be missing or reduced compared to UK cars so long term they may not fare as well in our damp/salty road environment unless you add some rust treatment.
  8. And of course there's the associated problem with private rental property or the lack of it. Similar 'efficiency' demands are being placed on private landlords to improve the energy performance of their rentals alongside the many and ever increasing rights for tenants, all of which is forcing many landlords to sell up. Result; even less private rental property. I even saw one tenant on the news this week claiming it was unfair that she had been asked to move out because her landlord needed to sell the property and a suggestion from the reporter that such 'evictions' should be made illegal! Presumably tenants should be allowed to say if and when the property owner can sell his property? Madness... I think some of the energy stuff for rentals might have been watered down in Rishi's latest speech but I haven't seen the detail. Hopefully someone has joined the dots and a bit of common sense has prevailed.
  9. I was chatting to my car transporter chap a couple of weeks ago. His commercial vehicle supplier/dealer have been trialling a full EV LWB Iveco van, which had thrown up a few problems… Cost was £70k compared to £40k for a diesel version Range of only something like 170 miles Motorway services are not set up for van charging. Apparently they stopped to charge it and because of the size of the car charging bays they were asked to leave by the site manager because they were blocking all the bays! Seems there’s some way to go before we’re really ready for everyone to have an EV.
  10. If you believe that the selling price is much connected to the building cost. What we see round here are developers wanting to build on green field sites in an affluent area close to the coast because they can ask a much higher price for their houses than if they built them on, say, a brownfield in a different setting. I'm not a builder but I assume that it costs pretty much the same to build house X on the edge of Chichester Harbour as it would to build it in downtown Salford, where it would fetch maybe 1/4 of the price...
  11. I do find the whole 'private' Building Control thing quite odd. We've just converted a barn into 2 holiday lets with all the Planning and Building Regs required and at every stage the council Building Control Inspector was required to come and sniff round what we'd done and check it was up to scratch. What I discovered is that we (not builders) were apparently doing a better job than many professional builders' projects he visited. What's most odd is that there are large developments going up all around Chichester that this guy never goes near! All (as far as I understand it) policed by private contractors who, it has to be assumed, won't want to upset their big builder customers by finding lots of problems for them to fix. No wonder so many new houses seem to be shoddily built.
  12. Looks a bit sad (and tweedy). Paintwork looks 'questionable' too in the parts where you can see it close up. Definitely one to view in person before bidding I think.
  13. And now his team are selling mugs with the mugshot on. Possibly to mugs 🤨
  14. Probably been practicing that for a while...
  15. These are presumably the same people who appear to increasingly like The Donald the more legal cases are brought against him. Good luck...
  16. I think a good rattle can satin black is good enough? That’s what mine are.
  17. Standard setup on BMWs. Enables the driver to be in all 3 lanes at once.
  18. Maybe I should post in the 'What made you happy today' thread too... After almost 3 years of work, our second self catering barn apartment 'The Stables' is finally complete and ready for guests! This one is ground floor with level access throughout so it's ideal for anyone who doesn't want to do stairs or maybe has limited mobility. Just like our other apartment 'The Hayloft' it has secure, private parking with CCTV right outside the door so it's ideal for anyone bringing a Lotus or other special car (I believe some other brands are also considered special..?). The apartments are each 1 bedroom (6ft Superking or twin beds possible) and can be rented together if you're a larger group or maybe travelling with parents, another couple etc and you each want your own space. We're on the UK south coast in the Chichester Harbour AONB, right on the edge of the South Downs National Park and 15 mins from the Goodwood Circuit. The local pub and harbour edge are only a 5 minute walk away. If you fancy a few days away in peaceful surroundings, we'd be very grateful if you'd give us a thought. Links to both apartments here. 19. He's on the Isle of Wight. Perhaps notification technology hasn't reached there yet. Not far from me as the crow flies but there's some Solent in the way...
  20. We've recently had a spate (on the usual FB groups and 'Nextdoor' moaning apps) of narrowminded folk complaining about the traffic that Goodwood FOS and Revival bring into Chichester, suggesting that these type of events should be cancelled. Again, these are locals who know when the events are on and could (like us and many other people) plan around them a bit and avoid driving into the Goodwood area when they're on. They also seem to conveniently forget all of the publicity, tourism and revenue that the Goodwood estate brings into the area. No doubt if Lotus upped and left Hethel and Goodwood closed it's doors the same people would all be complaining about the lack of employment opportunities in the area. Sure, there may be a few people driving like Muppets which can be dealt with if it's indeed connected to the factory but sadly some people just like to protest whatever is going on...
  21. People complaining about the church bells…🙄 We have it down our lane. People buy a house near the village school and then spend their life complaining about the school.
  22. What ever happened to Cooter...🤔
