I recently saw a red one of those Hyundai Coupes being driven proudly around our town, complete with full Ferrari Scuderia shields and badging.

The badge on the Mazda looks like it is a Eunos version rather than Lotus, so following the 'inspired by' philosophy of the car. Quite common, I thought.

Imitation by an imitation is still some sort of flattery.  Better to re-badge an MX-5 pseudo Elan than to do so with most other cars.

You've got a point there @snowrx.

I was recently offered a 'Lotus' Elan M100, from 1998 with strange taillights and a 1.8 engine, but featuring Lotus badges. So in fact a Kia Elan. When I called him out it was not a real Lotus, he went silent. But it apparently did sell quickly, so I fear some poor bugger is in for a nasty surprise.

@kkv444v. Well spotted! I was passing the same restaurant and saw it was in the car park. (It must belong to one of the staff.) You are absolutely correct. Took another couple of photos.
