Very true Dan, I actually missed four cars off my list as follows;

1988 Mediterranean blue Excel SE facelift - Reg CNZ3788. Used to see it at shows but been off the road since 2011 it seems.

1978 Black S1 with smashed windows and scruffy interior

1990 N/A Green Elan with very high mileage

1991 White Elan SE which my friend now owns.

Five of my Esprits ended up being exported being the 84 Black Turbo, 1996 V8 went to France, A65JEX White Turbo went to Australia and Lex Templar had it, JPS 013 went to Germany and JPS 099 went to Switzerland but came back this year.

The S3 owner is on the Forum and I know the owner of my first S1 so only a couple of the Elans are unknown.

Small Lotus world I guess ?

I appreciate that this is an old thread but I as I am now back into the Lotus owning fraternity I thought this would be a good way to introduce myself.

I bought my first Elan S2 in 1975 but I managed to write it off. I followed this with an S1 rolling chassis into which I transferred the engine from the S2 wreck. I then sold both cars in 1977 as I needed a deposit for my first house.

A couple of years later I bought another S2 which I returned to it's original colour of red (pictured with my brothers +2) and eventually used it for prod sports racing. I sold it in 1986 and I believe it was exported to Japan.

In 1984 I then bought a 61 racer with my brother which we raced for a few seasons until we sold it on in 1987. We moved on to more competitive machinery for racing but that is another story. The 61 is now yellow with a green stripe and is currently owned and raced in Historic FF1600 by Dick Dixon.

Next up in 1990 was an Esprit Turbo which I kept for 20 years but I eventually sold it because I didn't use it enough.

In 2016 I retired from racing and sold off my race car and all my equipment which left me with an empty garage; another Lotus beckoned. I had fancied getting an Elan M100 for some time but I didn't keep it for long as I was never really happy about the shape, something about the side view with the roof up wasn't aesthetically right. 

So now I've gone back to my roots and bought an older Elan an S4 which to my eye has perfect proportions compared to it's successor.

this threads shocking, just read through from the beginning  granted it started 4 years ago, maybe this forum wasnt visited as much  but there is some outstanding impressive lotus car ownership lists on here!  that didnt even get a thumbs up! 

now rectified by me at least

I suspect that the ‘like’ feature is a fairly recent addition to the forum software.

1 Started with a brand new R Reg Elise S1 - The only brand new car I've ever bought with my own money.

2 Then Lotus replaced that (it was soooo much trouble) with an S Reg Elise S, which I kept for a couple of years.

3 Caterham 7 1400 Super Sport 

4 - After a big gap (mainly Porsche ownership) I have the 380 Sport which I bought in December 2018

And that red early stevens turbo got you on the hook Barry, a lot of loti to own in short period of time,  would of loved to of seen you follow through with the red G car though !
