What are views on 2010 cars? I am half heartedly looking at Evoras but had been leaning towards MY12 cars for the improved gear shift etc.

Do most 2010 cars have the improvements fitted now? Are MY12 cars really any better, or is a good 2010 just as good?

I wouldn't overly worry. I've looked at both when I was buying (and was happy to buy either!)

The LE that I looked at, the build quality was not quite as good as the SR, materials a bit less well fitted, felt a bit 'thinner' if that makes sense? However, it's not that bad, it didn't rattle at all and you don't sit there fiddling with everything in fine detail after you've bought the thing because you are driving it.

The ride was a bit softer in the LE, I think this will come down to personal preference. I also don't know if it's just a difference in wheel size as the rear suspension is slightly different post 2012 I believe. Anyway, the LE rode nearly as well as my Jag XF (SV8 on 20" wheels so not the softest and waftiest, but still!) which I was very surprised about. The SR is definitely firmer but still compliant and a great long distance cruiser.

The head unit is much better on 2012... But it's not the end of the world, just change it, newer after market models are significantly better than either anyway.

I drove an NA LE with a sports exhaust and it was nearly silent compared to the SR with switchable exhaust which makes a great noise, obviously can be tweaked but just something to be mindful of. Gearboxes, newer one got 'racing' cables, lots of the older ones have been changed by now. The gearbox was fine in the LE I drove, wouldn't have had any complaints, can't tell you if the cables were upgraded though, it had just had a new clutch so they might have just re-adjusted everything.

Hope that helps

Was the SR also an NA, or an S?  The supercharger makes a difference as the exhaust bore, IIRC, is larger and a single exit pig snout to trumpet the noise.

God doesn't want me, and the Devil isn't finished with me yet.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

I do hope those SR IPS prices hold up into next year when the trade-ins for the i4 Emira  start! 🙂

Which is a fair markup I think. 15% of it goes to VAT, there will be prep costs along with a warranty and advertising/staff/rent etc. They'll probably end up keeping a couple of grand which is a fair profit on a £50k car.

I know that they said the grey IPS was going to have few things done to it, which would also eat into their margin. I am expecting to go in to pick up something early next week, so I will try to remember to ask them about the blue one. I also know they have been looking for lotus stock. Their showroom currently combines Lotus plus their performance car stock, but that is set to change with the performance cars going in a 'new' showroom next door and the current one will be Lotus only. (ready for all those Emira's and 132's next year.)

It feels like the trade-ins might be a bit of a lottery which is why I took the opportunity to sell my Evora a few weeks back (for what I paid for it).

I'm waiting for an i4 Emira so will have another summer out of the Evora yet....

Quite, when I was looking and had a conversation with the chaps at Silverstone Lotus, they said that they bring it up to showroom standard which means the margins can be thin unless they get the car in in excellent condition.

15% of the profit after costs, surely.

Regarding the blue IPS SR at Hendy’s, I can only imagine that for some reason the seller was struggling to sell it privately.   Perhaps because it was an IPS, or maybe the time of year.   I was half considering it myself at £43k but I certainly wouldn’t be interested at £52k - and I’ve done a lot to my NA LE so I’ll be keeping that I suspect.

£52k is Evora 400 money, there’s a Hethel Edition up for sale for £51k…..

Some buyers don't want the 400 styling. Or want the power.

So the correlation between S1 and 400 prices is not directly comparable, especially as the cars get older. No-one says a S1 Esprit is comparable to a S3 Turbo with regard prices, as the appeal of each has diverged - the same is slowly happening with Evora.
