Oh come on, enough of this.  The issue is that you can't just run a driver off the track - where the fook are they supposed to go when you go in so hot?  Hamilton has had to jump out of the way so many times for Verstappen. Then what about Spa which effectively gave Max what, 8 points for free and the decisive "win" to ensure he maintained an advantage to the end of the championship?

He didn't get 6 seconds on the corner, but he did get well over 12 seconds during the race, and then another 6 seconds after Perez's skillful blocking.  Maybe they should have restarted the race with the time difference in place?  That would have been fairer than what we had which was one driver penalised, the other given a real leg up.

The way this ended was a fook up. Look, great for Max, he did on the track. But Masi and the FIA have really fooked this up and it does leave a sour taste.  I want go so far as to say Latiffi was paid to stuff it into the barrier. I don't believe Williams would play any part in that, and not sure what Latiffi would get out of it - money? really? Nope, don't think it was deliberate.

Aside from removing the back markers between Max and Lewis, does anyone know if Max over took Lewis while under the safety car?  I’m hear reports of this.

Well, still not quite sure what happened.

I like the quote on the BBC HYS thread:

A car crashing is 'racing' and it should have ended there.   After all their talk the Stewards did decide the race and driver championship result in the end by gifting the end to max. I know what they were trying to do but hideously unfair.  

Saying all that. Great scenes and I hope Max keeps it. To now reverse the farce would be an even bigger one.

Well, he did appear to show Lewis his 'nose'. In the grand scheme of things.. not a title deciding moment.

I can and can't believe this season has ended like this. Been watching F1 for near on 50 years and it has turned into a circus of manipulation - and all are guilty.

Farcical ending for sure, but Max and Red Bull did nothing wrong. They’re not responsible for the inept race stewards.

The result should stand, otherwise you just make a bad situation worse.

Yep, another awful precedent set by the FIA. 

So it just kept on happening and Max and Whinger Spice actually believe they are in the right.

Max is easily good enough not to have to result to this.

Heads will roll at the FIA with an apology statement.

Anyway, this is racing.. it is how it is now. We have to live with it or walk away. 

It was still an utterly amazing spectacle.

When teams make a mistake eg unsafe release from the pits, they get a fine, maybe the should fine themselves. I thought they would find a way to deduct points from Merc to let RB win that as well.

I can't see them changing the result, but something has to change for next year.

How about declaring it a non race, ie pretend it did not happen, so Max still wins on number of race victories.

Unfortunately, you have to have Lady Luck on your side in order to win. Max has seemed to have that a lot this year. I have seen many races not won by the fastest car or the car leading before a late yellow flag. It is a heartbreak for MB and LW but it is racing.

I'm not to sure about that last call to only let half the field but I do not think they will let the results be changed.

We have Goodwood, Silverstone Classic, many club events including Lotus, Le Mans, and so many other, more entertaining (for fans) motor racing events. F1 has become a total bore fest, unapproachable, and little entertainment. This farce, where the stewards/FIA select who wins is the end of my interest. Still think Hammy is the GOAT.

I lost interest a few years back but did rekindle interest this year. I’m in the same position as you. That’s the last F1 race I’ll be watching for a fair few years.

I assume that Mercedes have a legal basis to take this higher. I think the world championship should stand but I think that Masi should be fired and an official acknowledgement of the total balls up that they have created.

I suspect it will be the end of my viewing too. I wish Max well as a champion and hope he wins next year "clean". But the circus show that Liberty Media and the FIA are turning this into is a farce.  Masi needs to hold his head in shame for a terrible job and in private should apologise to Toto and Lewis and offer a personal, private, account of why he did what he did and ignored the rule book. Name another sport that just makes the rules up as it goes along?

Yeah, a really sad day for F1 and the pundits were in shockingly over-diplomatic save-my-job mode not even mentioning the unfairness and the farcical nature of the ending.
