100% Agree.

Sorry Judge, I know I was disqualified and jailed 10 years ago for drink driving, but in those 10 years no one has supported me so whoops, I did it again. Can I go now.

Pathetic.

Agreed. But the monitoring of people on license is just another area that there is no one to do. If he had been done for something similar you'd like to think his internet would be monitored!!

So my next one is not anywhere near as serious.

BUT!

When did we become such an awful bunch of namby pamby wooses that the Government issue a "Cold Weather Alert" across the UK for Temperatures that won't actually get any lower than 5 Degrees during the day and 1 degrees at night?

We didn't have a weather alert for -5 degrees 5 years ago!

Sadly, it has nothing to do with the real weather, and everything to do with "project climate fear" - I do believe there is an orchestrated program at play to "convince" us that we are all doomed unless we do as the bigwigs tell us and hand over all our money, and drink all their kool-aid.

I told police who my burglar was - but they did nothing'

A woman whose home was burgled as she slept says the police would not question the man she had identified from CCTV as the offender.

Sarah Goode from Blackburn told BBC Panorama that officers "were not prepared to do anything".

The programme investigated further and found more CCTV - it showed the offender going in and out of her house.

It is very poor that it's taken Netflix to highlight the issue with the PO which has been ongoing for 20+ years. Shame on the govt for ignoring it until it's brought to everyone's attention this way.

I am not defending the Police decision to close the crime. In this case I am pretty sure a conviction would have been supported by the CPS with all the CCTV evidence. But the case is, there just aren't enough officers to even respond, yet alone investigate all the crimes happening

I spoke to a copper here at a station on nightshift one night. A very regional station and he happened to be one of two that night. The other guy was out in a car and this guy had to cover an area of which the furthest drive was about an hour. Needless to say, as he said, if I get a call from Lorne, I am only going down there to show attendance to back up their insurance claim. Another brand new station was also built near here, but wasn't opened for at least twelve months as they did not have the people to staff it.

And yet Tony, as per the video I posted they could send 3 cars and 6 officers to a guy videoing in the street. Please explain how they could do that, but not investigate an actually crime with video evidence? This is where the Police do themselves no favours at all.

Because priorities seem to be set by whatever is "trending" at the time. But how was that Video situation reported? Many Officers have gone on Blue lights to a suspected weapon being waved at the public yet when you turn up its a Neighbourhood dispute and its something as innocuous as a Mobile Phone.

But the CCTV Burglary I am stumped by. I can't answer for the force as to why they decided to close the case.

To add a bit more context - I used to work for the Police in IT, the amount of short term decisions and waste during the short period I was there was phenomenal - the contract was one of the most profitable my employer had. It was a very depressing job.

To state how bad our local police are (and this does colour my views as well) - a neighbouring farmer was attacked and punched on his land by a neighbour, the police sent out a WPC who basically stated they wouldn't do anything and 'anyway what do you expect us to do about it'.

So how come the Met are now looking into it - why not before, have they gained enough manpower all of a sudden or is policing now based upon media awareness?

I too get your point Tony but after witnessing 3 police motorcyclists rocking up at the drive through Costa I was in this morning, taking off all their gear, sitting inside having a nice warm coffee and still being there chatting 40 minutes later when I left, I do wonder how real this shortage of resources is. 🤔🤔

If they were on a training course, due to the pressures of Driving/riding courses they have to stop for an hour after a certain amount of time. It's highly likely they weren't on operational duty on bikes at this time of year and if they were it would likely have been escort duty and were waiting for their load to turn up.

What you see and the reality are often totally different.

I was once criticised by a member of the public for sitting in a Maccy D's for half an hour, nursing a coffee, with my crew partner, at 9am in the morning. I had been on duty since 5PM the previous day and attended a very traumatic Helicopter crash for much of the night. I wasn't going anywhere till I had had a coffee and stopped shaking from the come down of adrenelin.

Nothing to do with him going from thepost office to ITV who made the programme

Although she has handed it back - she still officially has it.

From the BBC website:

"People can indicate they would like to renounce their honour, as Ms Vennells has now done - but doing so has no formal effect. Until the King is advised by the Forfeiture Committee and acts on its advice, Ms Vennells will continue to hold her CBE."

The real issue for me, with Vennells, is that it highlights that once you get into the "CEO Club", it doesn't matter how good a job you do, or don't do, it just opens the doors for you to continue to move into jobs at that level. It is almost as though due diligence, which you would expect to be done forensically at these levels, just does not happen.

Also, with regards to Fujitsu, they have a long list of public sector failed projects, or projects with "issues". They were involved in the disastrous "data" for the NHS programme in England and Wales, called SPINE. The project was eventually cancelled and Fujitsu sued the British Government and won £700m!  Hard to believe we had to pay for a failed project. Hopefully we get that £700m and more back re Horizon! Before the Post Office gets a dime of any settlements, the public purse needs to be reimbursed fully, including the cost of the enquiry.

I've worked in IT since 1985, and I am neither surprised, nor amazed, at the failures with Horizon. Just about every large public IT system ever installed has had numerous issues. The surprising thing is that despite this litany of failures, the public sector continues to buy in the same way (at what point when you've been hitting your head against a wall for 20 years do you realise you need to find a different way to knock it down?) and from the same companies that have delivered the failures.

It actually, on the one hand makes me feel ashamed of the industry and profession I have worked in for so long, and the on the other, just confirms my long held view that a lot of the highly paid IT consultants are shite. I've seen them and their work first hand, most of them wouldn't last 5 minutes in any other industry.

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.
