Crashed Emira Demo

It looks like there's one less demo car in China.  I guess someone had to be first to test the safety systems.  Given all of the issues, I guess there can be some comfort in the fact the airbags worked and there were no injuries, apparently.

A few bits left on the road looks like.

Could it have been a customer car? those straight roads are very difficult to manage.

Some people shouldn't be allowed to drive.

I was never concerned in my Esprit that I would go for a loop. If you get into that sort of trouble, you are driving WAY beyond your ability.

One of the trees is missing a couple of support braces. Looks like they spun it around and backed it in to the tree. The support braces tore the left rear corner off the car. They must have been going at a pretty good clip to slide the car that far after hitting the tree.

As they say " Ignorance is Bliss!".

Well spotted @EldonZ!

I have made many mistakes in my life. Buying a multiple Lotus is not one of them.

Looks a bit low on coolant 🤔

Can you imagine the insurance claim...A sudden fluid leak meant that I was just a passenger once the coolant reached the rear tyre 🤣

You'd expect there to be some evidence of bits of tree in that corner of the wreck, I would have thought?

If you look at the tree, you can see it was hit but looks mostly like bark damage. What did all of the damage was the support bars, not the tree. I didn't look at the picture really closely but you might be able to find the support bars in the street, etc.

Safety cell did it's job then. Good to see.

What was the arsehole driving this doing? FFS, were some people just born stupid (don't answer, rhetorical question).

Looks like an Eletre in the last pic as well, perhaps trying to keep up with it

Looking down at his phone, calling his insurance company, or ordering a taxi?

Driver was the Lotus sales person, passenger was a prospective customer.  Eletre was driving in convoy.  Glad no one was hurt, could have been a lot worse.  Cold Cup2s on a wet road not the best setup for trying to show how to drift the car.

It does show you can access the engine bay by removing individual panels rather than the whole rear clam like on the Evora :)
