My Action Man astronaut, who has stood on the shelf next to his space capsule for over 12 years, fell off overnight. The wing mirror of the Lotus Elise GT1 car saved him from a hard impact. The Lotus Position. It made me smile during what are rather stressful times.

I hadn't driven my Esprit in over 3 weeks. Normally I rarely go 3 days without driving her, but when the first measures were announced and panic buying followed, I put her safely inside the Workshop and started using the Range Rover. A lot more room for essential shopping and a lot more apocalyps-proof.

This weekend, I was asked by an animal shelter to go and get 2 guinea pigs that need a new home. So a worthwhile cause, and as it's only a small transport basket, I could use the Esprit. 😎 A quick check of fluids and tyre pressures, throw in a couple of my favorite CDs and off we went. Nice sunshine, so I could pop the roof. Near empty roads, even on the R0 which is one of Belgiums busiest roads I could go for miles without seeing another vehicle. Which does make the speed limit of 55mph seem very slow... I refrained from ludicrous speeds (especially with the guinea pigs on board), but it was such a pleasure to hear the engine rev and see (and feel!) the boost build going through the gears. Almost like falling in love all over again. 😍 Literaly a ray of sunshine in these dark times, and it should preserve my sanity (or what's left of it) for a while longer. 🙂

Luckily not, motorways are normally 120km/h (75mph), but on a lot of sections there are restrictions to 100km/h (62mph) or 90km/h (56mph). Which is OK-ish in traffic, but totally ridiculous if you have 2 or 3 lanes all to yourself.

This morning I managed to move a cruise booking from July this year to next year. I'd mentally written off the deposit of that one as likely after restrictions lifted, but really didn't fancy it as being a good idea.

Looks like the chillies survived their upgrade, and are now chowing down on a new batch of Tomorite compost. With luck, that should see them right for a few weeks. I was surprised how soon they outgrew their previous accommodations.

My day was made bit happier and more hopeful because Trump's choice for Wisconsin's Supreme Court, a  swing state in the US elections, was dismissed by the Cheese Head electorate who voted in large numbers for a more sensible and neutral jurist to their state bench.  This is important because it bears on how legal rulings and choices will be made going forward in that state which may have an impact on how decisions will be made    as regards electoral procedures in that state.  The Republicans generally try to repress the vote in places where they have a numbers disadvantage.  This is not kosher in a democracy and it is good that it appears Trump's crony was rejected in this critical state.  

That made me hopeful and in these days, hope and happiness are inextricably intertwined.
