What made you UNHAPPY today!

Just had some deliveries (5 different orders) from Amazon. Dropped at the door, delivery driver running back to his van.

Bugger some items missing.  They split one order and put 1/2 with another order - which is missing. Funnily enough, the only email I've received to say the that the order has been delivered is the one that it missing. The other deliveries - no email.

Can't find the on-line chat any more (or any contact details for a person)_, so I've had to report the missing items vis the "bot" on Amazon's website, which says they'll be delivered Friday.

Not too happy as I have 1/2 a PC waiting to be built.

Sorry, this is cut down, but it'll still be long.........

Moved house on Friday. All packed up arrived outside the new place at 11.30. Sat there waiting. Asked for ETA from solicitor at 12. (bear in mind there are only 2 houses in this chain Renters -> us -> Empty house).

Your buyers say that they have sent the money, but not turned up yet. Then follows many phone calls. At 4.30 the buyers solicitors come clean - we sent it BACS not TT. So that means it'll take 3 days to turn up. Bank says we can try and recall it, but it'll probably take longer, so leave it until Tuesday. So we get permission to move in under licence and allow our buyers to do likewise at our place.

In the meantime the new place needs a full going through redecorating throughout, new kitchen, new roof to the garage (double obviously ) and eventually new bathrooms etc etc. So I have 2 weeks off to make a start - but cannot do anything until we complete.

Tuesday rolls around. The money arrives. My solicitor then hits the buyers solicitor with the penalties for both our place and the new place due to the late completion. It is the sols F*£$ up and they knew this was coming but still took virtually all day to agree to pay in the meantime ignoring emails and phone calls. Then before these funds come over the purchase moneys disappear from our solicitors account. Apparently they have been recalled (how the hell can that happen once they have cleared?), the banks are not sure where it is, but say it could well be another 3 days before it appears again. Fingers crossed for some better news today, or the situation will be complicated by having to return our mortgage advance and re-request it (seems sensible, not).

In the meantime the interest charges on the 2 houses are racking up at £170 a day and at some point I can see the solicitor being more resistant to meeting these costs, despite it all being because of their incompetence.

When this is over I plan to go straight to the Law Society with a complaint.

So what do we think the next chapter will be?

Blessed with the competence to be a slave to the incapable.

Currently without a Lotus, Evora 400 Hethel Edition in Racing Green with Red leather and 2010 Evora N/A in Laser Blue and 1983 Lotus Excel LC Narrow body in Ice Blue all sadly gone.

No offence to the profession but isn't it always the very expensive solicitors that screw house moves up? That sounds like mistake after mistake and I'm sure we're not talking about a small amount of money that keeps going awry!

You would think it was something they have never done before hence why they screw it up.

Mind you, you could think the same of builders - how do they always manage to so over promise, underwhelm and under deliver?  Again, you'd think it was their first time every time.

@Colin P - you are sounding very stressed to me and this will be having a significant impact on your health and wealth. All of this, including the interest penalties and the actual cost of two days holiday lost, will need to be factored into the settlement that your solicitor agrees for you to receive from the numb fooks on the other side. However, alas, based on my own experience they will be reluctant to push your case hard as the professions never really go against the professions. So, just get the Evora out for a drive and relax and chill...... :)

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

Don't start me on the builders - we are supposedly remodelling our house driveway and barn (read very big garage 🙂). We started the process last August and we still haven't had written quotes / estimates from most of the people involved - it supposedly starting in September. What gets me is that they are all happy to come up for a morning (in some cases two or three times - as they have forgotten what they are supposed to be doing). What little has been done (garage and barn doors) have been completely mis-spec'd by the fitters, the barn door has destroyed itself twice over the winter and I now need to brace it for high winds as we have only just discovered it is only rated to 59mph winds when we were told it was rated to 80mph - we live on Dartmoor ffs - it gets windy and we told them so.

Rapidly looking for other builders / roofers - the roof won't survive another winter like last.

So if anyone on here is only a half-arsed or better builder - move to Devon, you could make a fortune - it's a licence to print money, there must be so much work as if a customer has the temerity to ask 'How much is all this going cost' the local builders totally ignore you. Before COVID we were actually thinking of moving just because we just don't trust the trades people round here any more - our neighbours also had a hell of a time with there builders.

Knowing I’m not restarting work until September earliest.

Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk - that will teach us to keep mouth shut!

Somebody exchanged on a house of mine but on the day of completion (when I was fully packed up) they admitted they didn't have the funds to complete. Solicitor gave them 14 days at a penal interest rate but even after that the funds never materialised. The (almost) purchaser lost their 10% deposit plus the racked up interest. Felt sorry for them but I had to take a hit of more than the deposit when it was finally sold.

The money from our buyers is there. It’s been seen in our solicitors account. It’s their solicitor that screwed up, then the banks. Still not located, now saying it could be 10 days and pressure to complete being ramped up (not sure how that can happen without the money). So it’s the 3 owners being screwed by cock ups by those being paid to do a job.

It made me extremely unhappy that my Local Dealer wanted 3k USD for bolt tightening, and that a friend was able to do it for me for around 600, it annoys me how obtuse Alfa Romeo's Service is in the United States, mind you I understand it's not a prestige brand, but I get friendlier more accommodating service with my pick up truck.

Annoyed is probably a better word, than unhappy.

I know that it won't make you any less annoyed to hear that it's not any better here in the UK.

Especially here in Scotland. The dealer who had the franchise for several years eventually lost it after countless complaints to AR in Italy from a huge swathe of owners, myself included. The franchise then passed to another company who were really very good, with staff who were knowledgeable and passionate about the marque's heritage. However, for a variety of reasons, they gave-up about 3 years ago and somehow the previous dealer got the franchise back, :realmad: .

I've had at least 1 Alfa in some shape or form in my 'fleet' for the past 40 years or so but I fear that the current one could be my last. Here, it is regarded as a semi-prestigious brand but the dealer network is more suiting a 'bargain bangers' car lot,   .

Unhappy. Yes. Just been ordered back to work on Doha after having a couple of weeks off following on from a 12 week trip. Worst part is that I am in the middle of doing an Esprit SE clutch change along with a few other service items and upgrades for a fellow owner. Now the car has to sit and wait for possibly up to 10 weeks before I can get back to it. In fairness, the owner is not worried about the delay as it was always understood that me being called away was always a possibility. Just a pity I hadn't managed to squeeze out another couple of days and it all would have been done.

Frustrating as hell. But then the job pays for our toys and in the current climate we have be thankful of employment where thousands of others are less fortunate.

Stay safe guys.

This seems like the EXACT same thing we experience here, and it's terrible for not only the Brand image, but hurts the future sales of a legacy that had just returned to the United States, it is rather frustrating, I had hoped your experience in the UK would be better, especially since your market seems to have a more healthy Driver's community.  It's unfortunate, it really is.

The Alfa network is hopeless, worst I've ever seen, which is a real shame, but the specialist network is amazing. I loved my GTV, which I had for 12 years. if I had somewhere to put one, I'd have another in a shot. I'm really worried for Alfa now, the Giulia is a great car but it didn't sell because of the dealers and the flaky quality of press cars.

The 4C is a great car, if you take the time to correct the errors made by Alfa from the factory. They have cancelled the new GTV and I'm worried that's it for their efforts in sports cars. I'd love to be in an Alfa,I love the community and the heritage but they are just not helping themselves.

Indeed, Alfa as a customer feels like a disaster, the 4C was supposed to harken the return to it's thoroughbred heritage leading to a new 8C (Which will end up the MC20 under Maserati).  The 4C is a blast, an absolute Gas to drive, but it was like somewhere the engineers were switched or sacked and they went "Meh, good enough".   They inspire passion through their imperfections, with that being said, it's not a Lotus, but what is really?  I'm a one plaything kind of guy, so I need to be cautious about my toy purchases 😛

Dunno if it’s the unhappy or happy thread - my eldest is 18 today. She’s grown into an amazing young lady with an incredible future ahead of her - makes me feel profoundly proud. Where has the time gone though.... feeling old.

These young uns - she was already slumped by the downstairs toilet after a run in with shots 🤪 when I got in this afternoon. She’s now back up and eating - and refusing my suggestions of a drinking session to round the day off.

She maybe knows the old man couldn't hack it these days and it's just bravado on his part and she's trying to be kind. ;).

This is a beautiful story, having daughters on or about that age, I could picture them.  I would say this is a good place to be, Congratulations Dad!

The new rules on TV licences in some areas beggers belief.  My wifes mother of 86 Years has now lived alone for 5 years.  In the past 12 -18 months it was clear an element of dementia was beginning to take hold.  Just prior to the lock down she was still managing to go to the shops by getting a lift with a neighbour once a week.  Since lock down she has gone downhill dramatically.  Whether its coincidence or whether its because she was suddenly unable to go out is up for debate.  After 5 weeks of delivering her groceries it was obvious she was in a big muddle so my wife entered the house.  Filthy, no washing done house upside down.  We sorted her out and got a carer in expecting 1 maybe two 2 visits per day.  That very quickly increased to 5 and she started wandering, accusing neighbours, making literally hundreds of phone calls. 122 to next door in 3 days I kid you not!   Local doctors have been next to useless.  Anyway she became completely unmanageable and we got her into a residential home specialising in dementia patients. A home that we have  not yet been allowed to enter to view.  Selected on hear say.   £850 per week and because she hasn't pissed all her money up the wall she pays that.  Anyway, my wife rang the TV people , to say she has moved to a nursing home and her house is currently empty so there will be no licence purchased for that property.  Turns out if she has a TV in her room in the nursing home she has to buy a license.  Despite the fact she barely knows who her daughter is these days let alone whats on TV.  The nursing home have a license for the TV in the communal areas but now the bastards expect that any person in a nursing home with a TV in their room has to buy one.  Why is it then my son doesn't have to buy one.  Hes got a TV in his bedroom in my house.  If anyone can prove me wrong I would be most grateful.  I am seriously considering challenging this in public at the moment.
