Yep bang on Stephen it was 83 I believe, he just managed to avoid the Esprit before winning. He said when it worked it won but often had problems so moved onto other vehicles eventually. He still races today at Goodwood in MGCGT's.

That first racer does look great, I never knew there was a GT-version of the G-Esprit.

As for the second, apart from the odd open top look, what's with the BMW logo? Could it actually be powered by a German heart? Would be very interesting, also considering the other thread about different engines where something fromt he M-division was mentioned. Maybe everything has already been done before.

Funny how the Bravo ended up more reminiscent of the productionised S1 than the original silver prototype did!

Took the Esprit to Brooklands Motorsport Day today and drove in convoy with a friend in his Corvette. 

When we entered, we were "spotted" and Phil Ward (the organiser) directed us to be parked in the paddock next to the clubhouse, prime location!

Yes, you are a Photographer!  Sorry.  I miss took it as a photo that my 8 year old son could do with his eyes closed on his 1mp Tesco camera.   How silly of me.

Yes he did.  And it seems so you did too.

But more importantly Alan my boy . . .  a 4 pot is far superior to a dodgy, undeveloped V8.

I've heard that the f-stop on the 4 pot is a real bitch to determine. Something to do with an image distortion issue possibly related to excessive lag time.

HC Esprit (little was I to know I was going to buy the HC after this meeting) Meets my just recommissioned 1978 motor show S2 on one of its first drives after having been stored as a center piece by its electronics engineer previous owner as a thing of beauty to look at  while working he last had it on the road in 1986.
