Does he honestly believe that he doesn’t look ridiculous wearing that monstrosity?

It is a shame he doesn’t have someone strong enough to tell him that he is a complete and utter berk. Great driver. Questionable at best, dress sense.

Bit of a mix in today's qualifying,  should be interesting to see those faster cars coming from the back thru the pack.

Merc's gone backwards over the 3 week break. 1.8 secs off Max's RB.

Could be a closer race tomorrow if the qualifying is to be believed. Useful late yellow flag for RB.

And also  Danny R  really off the pace, must not be looking forward to the rest of the season unless he can get to grips with the car.

Mercedes messed up their one chance of victory this season. Lots of odd decisions elsewhere. Toro Rosso sending back out a car which couldn’t complete a lap resulting in VSC to help Red Bull when Hamilton was closing in; Yellow flags in sectors 1 & 3 for Bottas breakdown followed by Safety Car to help Verstappen with a free pit stop for softs. Mercedes only have a strategy for when everything goes according to plan. They don’t have anyone who can implement a Plan B.

Ferrari did not cover themselves with glory (again).

If Merc had not pitted  GR during the safety car, then there was no way they would have stopped Max getting past, without an accident.

Would have been better to pit both, give up the (little) chance of a win, but keep 2nd and 3rd. Would have helped Merc in the constructors vs Ferrari.

And as people said about Lewis - it's all about the car and so boring when the same driver and car win.....  :harhar:

Cannot understand how Ferrari have gone from being the most exciting at the start of the year, to, well, the most disappointing. But then, Italians and strategy, organisation etc. I suppose it's just the way it is.

In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

Yeah... A mess from Ferrari again, seriously embarrassing and Mercedes managing to pick the worst possible option under the safety car.

I thought their plan was to pit neither, in which case they would likely have still lost but they had a half workable strategy to try to win. Pitting both gave them a slightly better chance, so they went for... Pit one of them...

Red bull proving to be by far the best team this year. Great car, good strategy, perfect pit stops and Max isn't going to lose an opportunity to win on his own.

Was a good race until Tsunoda, might actually have had a fight on our hands!

Yet another flawless drive by Max, with flawless tactics by Red Bull. Ferrari? WTF were they doing?

Both Mercs were showing more promise. I almost felt sorry for Hamster, but for his usual moaning on the radio. That said, and in all seriousness, unless the opposition gets its act together, Max is gonna wrap it up very soon, and it’ll be like the Schumacher years all over again. 🙁

Margate Exotics.

Not sure I agree that Merc messed up strategy, I think they were dealt a crap hand by the timing off the safety car.  Toto said in post race interviews for them it was all about the win and if there was a chance they were going for it.

If it was a boring uneventful race then I think Merc looked good to win with Lewis by doing a two stop instead of three.  But due to the safety car the cars were bunched up and Max got a free stop to get the tyres he needed.  With Max's amazing pace the only way Merc could have won was with track position they could not have pitted Hamilton and chased Max down.  They rolled the dice with Russel as he said he needed tyres was their 2nd placed driver at the time.  Same as with the season finale last year with Hamilton on the older harder tyres and Max on the newer gripper ones; I think Merc were stuck between a rock and hard place while Red Bull has the luck of the draw.
