I think that he's a psychopath. Just saying.

My boss was talking to a bloke in Germany a while back. Serious guy with a good job. In his opinion the earth wants the human species gone, for all the damage we cause. He was seriously advocating expanding the nuclear power industry so that we increase the chances of a major nuclear accident to help wipe us all out. Maybe Nature doesn’t want to wait that long?

Anyway it’s all good news for the polar bears and ice caps. Planes grounded, factories closed, cars parked...

The challenge with his approach of a nuclear accident is that it would also be detrimental to other biological organisms, so depending on location could easily cause the end of several other species. Eventually, another species would evolve to such an extent that it would meet the definition of what we think of as "intelligent life" and chance are since it would have been driven by the biological need to procreate, it would go down the same route as Homo Sapiens.   Makes me think of the Hitchhiker's Guide novels and the dinosaur with the "Ban the bomb" placard.

However in 9 months our demographic will undergo a huge rate of change when we experience the biggest baby boom we have ever seen. That will also be inline with the biggest divorce rate we have ever seen. The biggest number of suicides we have ever seen. And the biggest rise in substance abuse we have ever seen.

That's depressing but probably true.  I know in our town people are drinking through this.  At Tescos all the booze has gone, unless you are partial to a bottle of Dubonnet, Benedictine or Get 27 Mint Liqueur.

Yep, I've resorted to ordering a couple of bottles of strawberry gin (well 1 bottle 1 refill) direct from Bullards. Actually, they've seemingly switched to producing hand sanitiser, so seemed an idea to support them by purchasing from them.

Well done Cuba - country has gone up in my estimation.

My boss arrived back from his Caribbean cruise yesterday. Spent the last week sailing round in circles as no country would let them dock. Finally arrived back in Jamaica (apparently after negotiation with the High Commission), armed escort to the airport and shoved on planes back to the UK.

So basically the chances of a great many people of school or work age dying from it are pretty remote.

We have a huge proportion of our population on benefits which say they are really ill and infirm 🤔

One son-in-law works for Northwick Park Hospital. They now have so many COVID-19 patients that all critical beds are occupied.

Another son-in-law is COVID-19 coordinator for Radiology and A&E at UCH in London.  The poor bloke is dead on his feet.

I do hope people are taking this seriously and doing what they're told.  Things are about to get nasty.

I've self isolated at home all week and just working on. I've got a whole cupboard of half price (75p) mini egg easter eggs that I managed to sneak out under the nose of everyone else in Tesco who were fighting in the aisles and car park over bog roll. FFS, you can't eat bog roll? And bog roll doesn't release the good endorphins that make you happy like chocolate does.

I've got 30 bottles of claret - it does go quite well with chocolate, cheese and nuts....

I think that's taking things pretty seriously! And to save on toilet roll I'm shitting directly on my drive as after that diet it's better than tarmac!  So win:win all around :)

God doesn't want me, and the Devil isn't finished with me yet.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

So, you want to know why so many people in Italy are dying?

Speaking to a well informed Dr (who is a very very close friend.....)

61% of old people in Italy still smoke. It is tragic to see the numbers but rocket science it aint!

There are SO many reasons why this disease doesn't have a 'one size fits all' solution.

Many issues are going to come home to roost and maybe change Govt attitudes for decades to come - maybe for the rest of our lives....

Cuts in Policing budgets - see looting in certain areas - not a Bobby to be seen.

NHS spending is a really difficult one - there WILL NEVER be enough money put into the health service, simply because demand will ALWAYS outstrip supply. We (and I mean the Population as a whole) expect FAR TOO MUCH of a system that was never designed to do what it does (mostly admirably) today.

Having been accused of Hitler tendencies in recent times, maybe a 'restructuring' of our demographic is actually essential - we have moved from a health (and welfare) system that would do what it could, to a point to a system that does everything it can regardless of the sense or cost - that (IMO) is utterly ridiculous and totally unsustainable. Boris has been roundly berated for standing up and admitting 'people will die' but he is at least being honest.

I'm finding it really challenging to be honest. My 17yo son is now likely to leave school forever tomorrow. His 18th Party has been cancelled (at Easter) and he wants a group of friends around tomorrow (18 or so mates) for a goodbye celebration. I don't think I have the heart to stop them.

It's a bugger

It will be interesting to see how the masses behave from today onwards. As I work from home, I haven’t ventured further than our dustbin since Sunday morning, but from what I can see from my windows, the vast majority of people seem to be carrying on pretty much as normal. I wonder if they’ll all be self-isolating over the weekend? Or doesn’t the Government instruction apply to most people?
