Do it half and half. Down the middle. One side white, the other orange. It will at least keep @Paul Coleman happy half of the time. Just don't tell him. 🤪

Nah, orange every time ;)

Bizarre. They paid £25k, spent £15k, sold £45k but The Sun says they made £15k. Auction fees would be 10% if not more. So no profit.

TV shows like this are often a nonsense. The Salvage Hunters S1 being another example. Though Car SOS does rebuild cars under pressure, but standards aren't as good as you'd expect from their speil. Even if builds overlap, as can be seen with other episode's cars in the background at times. That's series production scheduling for you, and how programmes like this are often made ie in bulk, and concurrently.

Anyone thinking these restorations are carried out like the ones not in Teleland need to think again.

I've spent 20 years working with production management, and have filmed for UKTV who own many of these channels.

I don't know the car but it looks nice. Looking at the steering wheel I'd say it's done (at least) 118k miles rather than 18k miles - what a shame they didn't restore the wheel at the same time they did the interior - bonkers.

Not a fan of the red pin stripes/decals which were unlikely to have been there on an '86 car. Apart from the steering wheel only thing that looks out of place from the pictures is the lack of a decal on the centre caps on at least one of the wheels.

I'm a bit cynical but I always wonder what state it was in before it had a respray/interior refurbish and how well it had been looked after in order to warrant what's been done.

Older photos of the car would suggest that the colours are correct, plus there is no way it had only done 18000 miles...

Hi, are you referring to this? As far as I know the sticker is not original, and I don't think there were a more limited edition than the GT3 already is. I mean, pretty much any Esprit could be assimilated to a "limited" edition ^^'

This GT3 seems to have had its stickers removed (could have been an option to not have them?), and has a Sport 300/S4s rear wing, which is not original on a GT3 (there were no wing at all, and the transom was different/longer to compensate the lack of wing).

Also this one has the comfort seats, which is probably original (as an option) but not typical of a GT3 which was designed to have the sports bucket seats.

The car looks fine, and the owner might be well known here since it has the 2018 Lotus 70th event sticker on the windscreen.

Perhaps someone can explain to me what “From a private collection” means? Is it to show the car isn’t being sold by a trader? Or is it just that the vendor happens to have more than one car in the garage, and thus it can be labelled as such.

Margate Exotics.

I'd say it's the first, not sold by a trader. To me it also says it was a garage queen rather than a car that was driven and appreciated. I'd never say I have a collection, just some nice cars to chose from. 😉

I have made many mistakes in my life. Buying a multiple Lotus is not one of them.

I always read that as being sold by a small time dealer. And to explain why there’s a driveway of cars when you arrive to view…

Not worth starting anything now...🍺

A little tatty in places but would make a good restoration project at the right price.

Looks like it's had only 1 MOT???

Current bid £4,000, reserve not met, only 2 days left to run

No doubt the price will soar in the last hours before closing. It looks like it could make a great project car for someone.
