Having worked at the hallowed ground of Lotus Engineering and the Lotus Cars in Hethel, this was my daily walk to the design office and past this beauty every day.

And in the main reception we often had unusual cars and one off's, mostly there were Senna's JPS Lotus, and various other F1 cars and oddities. The day i took these, it was a one off paint job for a client who was collecting his new toy direct from the factory after his tour and track day  Oh and i remember Essex No1 being on site, the prototype....looking distinctly sorry for itself but Lotus wouldn't sell it too me. Not sure if it ever got restored or not, does anyone know?

 

I also remember some of the guys telling me about an Esprit turned up for service at a Lotus dealer in the UK which had been spending its life in the UAE, when they checked the data, it was one of 7 that went missing from the Lotus parking lot after the producction line had completed the build...........7 CARS WENT WALKABOUT !!!!
