Saw a Marcos Mantis driving along the A45 in Northampton this afternoon.  I remember looking at them at out local Marcos dealer 50 years ago but I don't remember ever seeing one on the road before.

My father had a Speed Awareness Course today via Teams/Zoom. Here is his story from the session:

I did my best to keep quiet or agree, however let myself down once when asked whilst discussing loss of concentration what I would do if children were getting bored/irritable in the back seat to which my knee jerk answer was ‘buy a two seater‘. Everyone laughed; except the instructor of the course.

Brilliant @jep. However he should of pointed out that potentially that was a discriminatory question as not everyone has children or has experience of children so how are they supposed to answer the question as it would be wholly hypothetical.  I am sure the "woke" brigade would have pointed that out.

I hope I never have to do one of these courses as my response would likely be "i'd tell them to shut the fook up and behave, and if they did not I'd pull over at a safe location and give their arses a good smack!". No doubt soon afterwards my Zoom course would be an interview at the nearest station!

I just had a lovely Lotus moment. A father and son admired the sports car and we chatted. The 8 year old asked about Ariel Atoms, so he knew some stuff.  As I pulled away, the kid said ‘Enjoy your showing off!’

My Happy day was bringing my Esprit turbo back from the paint shop 3 weeks ago, just before I had to go back overseas to work. Unhappy will be thats its going to be 3 months before I can get at it again and also have an SE to finish a partial rebuild first.

Every fastener and fitting is being replaced in stainless steel or cad plated. Cost so far just for fittings, dont ask, the wife may just see this lol. As for the interior, thats 4 full sized auto grade leather hides so far, plus some rather special material coming from a factory in Spain for the inserts on the seats. Again, cost, ssssshh. Interior carpets complete with the same leather for the binding and in a nice contrasting Blue, made to fit by our very own Steve Margary and his wife. Great product and a pretty fair price. Paint job went 2k over budget as I wanted extra color and lacquer so it should look like a frozen pond in the sunlight. Looks like thats going to work and all in original Ice Blue. Now to cost out the mechanics. Yep, that should have been done first, but I had to keep my slot in the paint shop as he's a very very busy guy and I only got in as I know him well and he gets bits and pieces of work for LotusRescue from.

Glacier is slightly darker. This is A33

I’ve always found Wives don’t need to know about car parts and their costs.  Parcels turning up in the post are always cheap stuff off eBay.  And it’s good to be vague about the costs of new car purchases.  They really don’t need to trouble themselves.

My wife has taken the strategy of matching my number of packages with Lotus and vintage Jeep parts with those from Amazon. It's getting ugly and I've never recycled more cardboard. 😳
