Celebration time 🥂

15 years ago we were caught up in a particular political situation in Andalusia which resulted in a villa we were in the process of having built on a small development being stopped at 90% complete, when the regional govt put a prohibition order on the entire development.

To cut a very long story short, after 15 years of court cases between the regional govt, developer, architects, purchasers and more latterly banks, we have today received from our lawyers in Alicante the full sum recently awarded by the court, in our long case against the bank involved, for all sums paid by us plus a very substantial amount of statutory interest over the 15 years as additional compensation.

The change in exchange rates over the period has also resulted in us receiving a reasonable amount over and above our claimed losses even after the lawyer’s cut after him following him a freeing to take on this case on a no win-no fee basis.

It is a great result @C8RKH and one we had given up on many years ago. However it just shows that if you stick at it & don’t let the b’stds grind you down (which is what they tried to do) then sometimes it is worth it.

TBH the lawyer more than earned his cut with the amount of work he put in.

As for that new Lotus, yes.....I wish 😉. Heart says “a big yes,” head says “be sensible due to continuing health situation” No point in buying one and then finding out that I have to surrender my licence again😟

It does hurt not having that Evora but at least I can look back with vast satisfaction  that I did it and enjoyed every second of it 👍

So builders started on the house this week , a mate of mine who usually only buys land and develops I have been hassling him for 2 years to do my house as a commercial exercise, I finally wore him down. 
so they started Tuesday at 10am as they were awaiting machines. So this is the end of day 4, we have had 60 Ton of hardcore and earth out and gone, all drainage complete both foul and storm water, footings dug and completed today so they start building on Tuesday. This was my drive today they finished at 6pm tonight just after they had jet washed the drive 😍

Managed to finally get my Esprit started again today after battery woes going back to December.

• Had charged the battery, nope, tried to fire, but immediately died, and wouldn't restart.
• Used the Start the Engine mode on the charger, same thing. I had to use this mode in December to start the car to get it to Gerald.
• Bought a battery conditioner to use instead of just my charger - took a week to condition the battery. Fired for a bit longer, but died.
• The battery was a Yuasa Black with an unlimited life guarantee - had it 6 or 7 years. Got a replacement, changed it this morning, car started first time.

seeing my father in law come home from 6 months of rehab after a major stroke

Last Feb we agreed terms to buy our house. An electricity pole in the middle of the lawn was to be moved before exchange. Was scheduled for last may. We moved last June and today it finally got moved. Delayed almost exactly 12 months by COVID. 
 

The sellers will be happy too as there was a big retention being sat on until resolved.

so three years ago we were forced to pick up and run my dads business or see him kicked out of his house (he was 90 at the time and had just undergone  major life saving heart surgery) me and my two sisters have "other jobs" family and comitments but during this "difficult period" we lost our dear mum to pancreatic cancer, so three years on (after loosing money hand over fist to begin with) we are getting back to balancing the books (that sadly doesnt mean profit or wages) but early days i had looked around and i have these kinda quirky ideas one of which was weddings at the windmill, i mentioned it to a young local couple i know a while back and they jumped at the idea (and i saw this and do see this as a key pivotal point on viability) they came back today with the wedding planner (yes i know well thats the thing you have these days) so make or break meeting and well ...... they all absolutely adored the idea and the venue !!! whoop whoop !!! such a relief !!!! big exhale !!! maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel (but that must involve an esprit s3)

Working for 3 weeks as a fitter (last on the tools about 25 years ago. keep doing things at home though) installing stainless conveyors at a winery near home. So finally getting back out there.

Also waiting to see how things go with an exciting role as a maintenance planner for a company here in Geelong. That's all I'll say about it at the moment.

It's like being at Alton Towers, what a blast!

Played hockey - won 4-0. This was after a 1-0 defeat to the same team last week. Possibly last game of the season, unless @thebartman manages to get his team to sort out some fixtures against us

I think I've managed to sort out the BSOD I was getting every time I restarted after my PC hibernated or went to sleep - which was getting me really pissed off as it started doing this two weeks ago.

Started to prepare to reinstall windows by downloading all the latest motherboard software, and I noticed that there was a March Bios upgrade. Decided to apply this before doing the re-install.

Tested hibernate - no BSOD, same for sleep, so this is a result  - although it will probably return next week.
