Estate Agents. I could elaborate but I expect 'nuff said :wallbash:

Blessed with the competence to be a slave to the incapable.

Currently without a Lotus, Evora 400 Hethel Edition in Racing Green with Red leather and 2010 Evora N/A in Laser Blue and 1983 Lotus Excel LC Narrow body in Ice Blue all sadly gone.

100%

But it's the whole process. Our house took over 3 months - no forward chain - took us threatening to walk away for them to finally complete.

Lawyers say X isn't doing Y while Z says lawyers aren't doing anything...

Brother is in the process of buying a new house in America, within a week he had pre approval for the mortgage, made an offer on the house, received and accepted an offer on his and should be complete within 6 weeks at most of the start date. Why can't the English process be so easy and quick?

It can, but lawyers on both sides draw it out to inflate their time and therefore their fee's. Plus, they are incredibly inefficient in what they do. They've got a monopoly and they know it. We should open up conveyancing to competition and let others come in - after all it's a fairly straight forward process but then how often have the lawyers not doing the searches etc. properly which has resulted in disputes etc...

It's a stitch up. Plain and simple. And Jo Public gets fleeced. The professions are shysters and the old boy network protects them.

God doesn't want me, and the Devil isn't finished with me yet.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

It's the government that are the biggest highwaymen. Tax on something already taxed. Lets just say my stamp duty bill would by a very nice Evora!!!

Isn't it different in Scotland?

Yes, but in some ways it can actually be worse.

It is but things can bog down just as much as in England. Try selling a house in England and buying in Scotland like I just did. As the law is different in both countries and neither specialise in both, I had to have a solicitor in England to sell and another solicitor in Scotland to buy. Double trouble! I also had dead sloths as as buyers (buying to let so in no real rush plus they used "internet solicitors" which are cheap for a reason) and my seller's solicitor dragged their feet on a crucial document right to the day before, while the removal truck was making it's way down to load up. I will say my estate agent in England (Purple Bricks) was great, they just did their job at a fraction of the cost and my solicitor in Scotland was great too but she wasn't cheap. Still managed to buy in 12 weeks but I feel it would have been longer if I hadn't constantly badgered other people's providers.

One estate agent used me like a pawn and cost me over £500 in flights and hotels for the family to view a house that was already 90% of the way to being completed. Used my offer to spur the other party's solicitor in to completing quicker.

Signature not working...

The Welsh rugby side. Today their behaviour was appalling several players arguing with the ref throughout the game, particularly Bigger. Carney should have penalised him several times for backchat and as for his behavious after the final whistle...... completely unnecessary.

just glad they lost.

I thought my passenger door handle was loose because the clamping plate needed bending but, when I investigated it today, I found that the insert for the rear mounting screw had broken out of the plastic.  Of course the handles are no longer available but I have a plan.  I may be posting in here again if said plan doesn't work.

I think SJs have the handles, but they are very expensive.

The Toyota handles are the worst bit of the Excel - should have stuck with the "Marina" door handles.

The original insert had broken free so I (well, a friend with a mill and a lathe) bored out what remained of the boss to clean it up and made up a 9mm diameter insert tapped with a 6mm thread.  Some Loctite HY4070 and a welded-on strap to the lock assembly fixing hole should keep it in place.  Feels pretty solid now it's back on the car. 👍

My father in law lost his 25 yr battle with prostate cancer today.

While I was taking care of our grandson here in NY my wife flew down to Florida yesterday in time to be there for him, but I felt terrible I was not able to be there for her (she had a tough go all day)  I know in time she'll feel good she was able to be there, unpleasant as the end was..  😢

Bad day for me.  Job is looking shaky, company in trouble, have a meeting tomorrow with the company owners.  Our main family car, a Volvo XC90, has decided to call it a day (diff gone, £3000 fix).   And my Mother has been given a couple of weeks to live due to heart failure.  Need to get some cash so may need to sell the Mustang too.  So a bad day.

Yep, that's the problem of being old, big salary and lots of young people that can do your job for half the price.

On the flip side, being young they also want 10 years experience from people aged 20...

Still, sorry.
