George, dude... You're attention to detail is making feel very inadequate. Very. I like to think that I'm a bit of a perfectionist, but seriously, you make me look lazy and slapdash. My guilt is becoming unbearable. I'm thinking of throwing everything away and starting again - the house, the lot - using the GTK method of absolute and mindbendingly pure version of total perfectionism. You're car is going to be better than mine and I'm not sure if I can take it! I may have to get an Aston.

My little drill press was either made in Wolverhampton, or is a big Status Quo fan, because it's a wanderer 

Anyway, that aspect of the chassis is totally unoriginal, because of the even spacing between my welds lol.

Anyway this is my route to a dream car. It's a slog but it'll be all the sweeter for it, and I'm not after perfection, just trying to make sure I'm not driving it thinking "coulda done that better", about something underneath me. It'd spoil it, y'know.

You're also right in that when you're rounds complete you can sit back and know that you did it all. It's all your effort alone, and that's a real thing.

The reason you haven't seen anything for a long while is it's been going on behind the scenes in patron videos. I'm scurrying around in the background trying not to be overwhelmed by too many projects. Work is slowly warming up on the Esprit [and Sprinter, and Hobie Cat, and Mercedes W211, and Mercedes W123]. It'd be funny if it was funny 🤣

If you ever wondered about the parts commonality between an early Esprit and an Ascona or Manta, form what I can tell the front suspension components are almost identical on a Manta (Cavalier) A. There’s some evidence of commonality with Manta B in the latest video, too…

It's been incredibly difficult to kick start the Esprit project again, but I'm only days away from starting to build up a rolling chassis...

So close now I can taste it.

The metaphorical difficult second album of my return to the Esprit project... so many plates and only so much spin 😂

I'm very excited about next week's work schedule, and not thew we didn't know it around here but finding excess weight on the Esprit without going to considerable expense isn't so easy. But I suppose thats a great example of exactly the issue Lotus would have had when designing it. I always wondered did it irk Chapman that it wasnt far over 1000kg.

Good to see the series started again . In the early days of my restoration the videos were good reference points / help to understanding how things worked etc .You've a bit of catching up to do now thou .
