I have the Evora Sport 410, never heard the supercharger, don't want to.

I have a supercharged VX220 and the freakin' "Wwwhhheeeeeeeeeeeeee" noises are bloody irritating to my ears....

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

Well , I drove for 2 hours to see this car (after leaving a deposit so it could be 'prepped') to find it had a flat battery and couldn't be started...

https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/15287549

Evidently little or no work had been done to it, though to be fair, it only seems to have a few minor issues that need to be ironed out (apart from the dead battery e.g. one of the flappy paddles was broken, and they said I needed to pay extra to have some swirls and paint issues (bird lime marks?) sorted out.... Not that I can be sure of course, as nothing was working..

Apart from that it looked nice and I really liked the interior, I thought it was a quite a step up from the S1 ergnomically, but missed the whole point of the trip i.e. driving it.

Not sure if I'm being awkward though, do people not drive cars before they buy them now?

Can't say I was terribly impressed to be honest, and not sure I can be arsed to drive down again to take a test drive...

Wow.  Assume they knew you were going to see it?  That's so poor, not just with the battery being flat but slso not being able to rectify.  Do they want to sell it or not??

That said don't hold it against the car, these don't come up often and it looks lovely.  I would give it one more chance.

Yes, they knew I was coming as I left a holding deposit, and pre-arranged the time...

Yes, I know what you're saying re. not holding its against the car, and you're absolutely right,  but I admit, it's difficult not to be annoyed!

What's interesting is that they insisted on driving my car to check it out, so not sure why they thought I wouldn't want to drive theirs!

How did you find the ride compared? Noticeably firmer?

TBH I haven't noticed any difference, both ride superbly although I've only had the 400 since early Oct, and had a six month gap between. Not had an opportunity to take the 400 on a decent drive on dry roads yet.

That does sound pretty shoddy, I wonder if, once  they realised the battery was flat, they were unable to open the boot?  Sounds like the battery will be junk anyway.

I confess to buying mine without even seeing it!  It was 240 miles away and there was no way I could get to see it for at least a week, by which time I suspect it would have gone.  National dealer, offerred a limited time/mileage full refund guarantee so I took a chance.  I didn't pay the extra £100 for them to trailer it to me on the assumption that if any issues were present, they'd manifest themsleves en route.  First time I've ever bought unseen, wasn't particularly keen on doing so but they are so scarce that, invariably, the ones I fancied always turned up at the other end of the country.

They used the cable under the rear seats to open the tailgate  and the battery is definitely beyond redemption I'd have thought.

Hmm, I guess I'll sleep on it and make my mind up, really not sure what I;ll do yet...

I bought my old Elise SC without seeing it, but as it was only one year old it still had a Lotus warranty so it was less of an issue than with this Evora.

I'd be tempted to low ball them with an offer if you like the car but you think it needs a few things sorted. That way if you get the car for a good price it maybe gives you a couple of grand to pay a Lotus specialist to go through the car and make sure it's tip top before you start using. The dealer will say they won't take an offer but it's a buyers market so be cheeky if your 50/50 on the car.

The other option you has is to get it independently inspected by a Lotus specialist before purchase and then if any issues picked up you can negotiate as part of the sale.

I’d walk away. If they can’t be bothered to get it ready for a sale, then what happens if you need some after sales service or correction?

^That. 100% walk away. Can you imagine if the car develops a fault, the service and response you will get?

If you buy a FSH car privately from someone clearly wedded to the marque, especially such a young aged car, the downside is tiny.

If you want full peace of mind, buy from Lotus Approved with a 1 year as new warranty. More expensive but zip downside.

Why give a generic retailer a profit when most don't give a fig about Lotus or you?

Justin

Agreed.

I've been looking at the same car but I am further away to drive. I spoke to them about it and was going to trade a car in. The PX was so low that I didn't even bother to drive down there to look at it. Thanks for the heads up!

No worries, I've let them know I'm no longer interested, but glad to have been able to give you a heads up!

It's a shame, it's just what I've been looking for, but no matter!

It was nice sitting in one of the McLarens they had in the showroom though- aren't the doors heavy though?
