It was like that at Castle Combe, people would move there and then complain about the noise from the circuit.  Morons.

Same at Brands. Buy a cheap house next to a circuit, try to stop some of the noise and see if you can make some money. 

There are plenty of places to live - if you choose a mocheaper house close to a source of noise, that was your choice. If you want silence, buy a more expensive place in the middle of nowhere.

I sympathise with the neighbours.

This isn't really about Lotus Cars per se, it's about morons making their lives a misery every night and early morning, presumably with boy-racer exhausts and Rice Krispies ECU maps. The recently-opened Stag pub at Challock (B-Road Hunting Club guys), are having the similar problems with certain clients leaving the pub and racing through the village, closure being bandied around. Another meeting I used to frequent in Smeeth has the same problem, with lame-brained twats leaving rubber up the road when leaving the car park.

So leaving potash lane you can either go off down the road and get on the A11 or go the other way through the villages.

Cars are allowed to drive through villages at any time and I think these residents are just complaining.

Maybe there are some arseholes driving loud cars but I bet there arnt many in reality. People just going about there work, working late trying to make ends meet.

We had a woman complaining in my village as dog walkers were talking to each other outside her house at 5am!! 

The bigger picture is Lotus is one of the last major employers in the area and the more the local councils can do to support them the better.

(1) why buy a house near a car factory (or any factory working shifts)

(2)move and get on with your life.

We've recently had a spate (on the usual FB groups and 'Nextdoor' moaning apps) of narrowminded folk complaining about the traffic that  Goodwood FOS and Revival bring into Chichester, suggesting that these type of events should be cancelled.

Again, these are locals who know when the events are on and could (like us and many other people) plan around them a bit and avoid driving into the Goodwood area when they're on. They also seem to conveniently forget all of the publicity, tourism and revenue that the Goodwood estate brings into the area. No doubt if Lotus upped and left Hethel and Goodwood closed it's doors the same people would all be complaining about the lack of employment opportunities in the area.

Sure, there may be a few people driving like Muppets which can be dealt with if it's indeed connected to the factory but sadly some people just like to protest whatever is going on...

@eeyoreish these are usually the people who don't think through their "complaints".

I live in a hamlet of around 31 houses, some quite spread out (some like to call it a village, but I don't think we are that big lol). 

We had an old barn/steading go up for sale and a developer wanted to buy it to create 8-10 "affordable" houses. This would have attracted younger people and families into the village (we have a small school for 5-11 yo's) and helped to justify the school remaining open. I was very much in favour and argued that if we weren't careful the hamlet would turn into a retirement home. I also argued that all of our kids had been "priced out" of the village (mostly by Doctors/Medics I might add with their inflated NHS/GP purchasing power) and this might allow one or two of them to remain/return if they wanted.

The usual suspects "piped up" (many of them in houses built over the last 40 years on greenbelt fields on the fringe of the hamlet) and the development was not passed as too many houses. So we ended up with 4 four bedroomed detached houses. Three of those houses have ONE occupant (a retired doctor, a divorced retired teacher and an offshore worker) and one has a retired couple in it.

The council are looking to save money and the school is under threat of closure due to the lack of kids - the usual suspects are now apoplectic as the school may close and that would open up the risk of it being sold for development. Oh, and they'd lose the venue for their monthly "wine club" and monthly "old tw@ts" social night. Complete and utter twatty muppets the lot of them. I couldn't be quiet at the last community meeting and gave them both barrels, one shot of the reality of life and service provision, the other shot, reminding half of them that their houses were built as new houses and how hypocritical they were in their attitudes. Some locals no longer wish to talk to me, which is fine by me, however I laugh as the "old families" who have been in the area for generations always seem to want to have a coffee/cup of tea.

People are generally just selfish shits. I seek out the nice people and enjoy their company. The rest can just shrivel up and die as far as I am concerned as they are usually selfish, grabbing bar stewards.

My wife sometimes asks if I'd be happy in a cave on a small Island. Then laughs as she answers her own question in the affirmative. Maybe that's why we've been married for nigh on 30 years. She just knows me too well.

Having lived in the village in question for a bit, and had family who lived there for a few years, it’s not a surprising response given the aging, miserable people who live in that village.

When Lotus proposed wind turbines on their site quite a few years ago it was the same individual leading the complaining back then (https://www.wymondhamandattleboroughmercury.co.uk/news/21614111.safety-fears-hethel-wind-farm/) and who also was heavily involved in opposing new housing plans for the village (https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/21173310.joy-bracon-ash-bid-build-52-new-homes-village-rejected-south-norfolk-council/) as they felt it would devalue their properties and make the village less ‘exclusive’. They completely ignored the fact that there is no housing in the village to allow new families to move in, and the place is NIMBY central!

I must remember to drop down a couple of gears next time when going through the village in the middle of the day to help raise the average noise level!

While I am in Denmark, I can give a bit of light to the very same idea. This weekend there has been the huge Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix, and race cars have been flying around the street track Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Normally I pay a heavy ticket to go see it, but this year, I had other things to do.  Great stuff though. Anyway, There are so many young and old people who hates this. The very same people who walk around town with HUGE ghettoblasters playing über loud, the very same people who walk their dogs every day in the park where I run, and let their animals shit all over the place, no dogs on a line, so they bark and run between your legs as you run past them and stumble and fall, and then they say: "Oh, are you there? Mind my dog". Trust me, I've seen it more than once. The same people, who have that sticker on the back of their car: "Drive slowly, baby on board", the same people who take drugs and are drunk and gas their nose every single Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and complain that they cannot understand why there are so many gangs (who sell drugs). The same people who have a gay festival on lorries and have sex on the lorries while families with minor kids are watching it, the same people who complain that there arn't enough trees, but at the same time, complain to the land owner or the local town hall, that the trees are making shadow and taking their view from their apartments. The same people who tatoo their bodies with a mix of russian mafia tags and a list of their whole family... The same people who every single time refuse to use their orange lights in when they turn into another street. The same people who shout "Earth murderer" after you in the street if they see you have picked up a package at the local post office from a clothing company. The same people who move into an old house near a factory "Because it's SO NAJCE and trendy..." and then complain about the factory. The same people of who half of them have a beard which is exactly the same as their friends, and just because some dumwick on twitter, pipper and flipper wrote a message saying that they have to do that. The same people who drive a 300 pound 3-wheeled bicycle all over town, making it impossible to pass them on a normal bike. The same people who risk my Esprit burning up, because their stupid EV's are catching fire every single week.

Trust me, I know them... There's only only language they understand, and you have to shout it really really really loud directly into their face: SHUT THE .... UP!
