I too have been talking to Aaron but when I've asked questions about if there is anything wrong with the car or does it need any work, it's all gone quiet! He send me a video last night which waa a bit sketchy, so I asked for pictures. On there you can see the worn discs and that's when the messaging went quiet. I agree with others, could be a good car with money spent. I would pay between £30-32K. I also did a WBAC valuation and it came back as just over £29K in perfect condition.

Just an update. The reason why corrospondance went quiet was because Aaron was out of action yesterday. He's answered all my questions etc but I've decided to not go any further because of the above list of works others have quoted. I wish Aaron good luck and hope he sells his car soon.

Looking at 410 Evora sport and gt410 sports but I have only recently become aware of them so have only been following the market for a short time. Most of the gt sports are up around the 66-67k mark and aren't selling so it seems and I wondered what price you would be happy to pay at the moment?

It’s a buyers market so if I were you I’d try a few cheeky offers on cars that have been on the market a while. I’d say target price for a GT410 sport should be £60k.

They are actually selling, especially in a desirable colour (couple sold over last few weeks). It’s quite a small audience after these so you will often see them hang around for a bit, maybe more so now there are lots of Emira’s around the same price point.

Good to see the silver 400 has dropped to £40k, I did think it was overpriced especially in comparison to the grey car in Durham that was 18 months younger and had 20k less miles.

Has anyone seen it or know anything further. It’s a good trek for me and it does seem this forum is doing a great job on telling the reality of a car so people don’t waste their time.

…..and it was a development car, not even a production model.   The seller stated that in the comments well before the auction ended but that didn’t stop the bidding war.   Madness….

Belonged to racing driver and ES owner before the seller so hopefully looked after.

7 owners but Lotus do churn as folk can often only justify a specialist sports car for a short period.

Certainly worth a look.

Yes 7 owners is a concern as who knows how they drove it , looks like it was a daily for the first 3-4 years then became a second car after that.

All it takes is just one owner who drove it like he stole it! How do you know how it was driven by any owner unless you know the owner, know someone who knows the owner, or the owner is an "influenza" who posts their driving online?

These are usually "toy" purchases and the fact they could have a new owner every year is not uncommon. You get the same with McLaren, Ferrari et al. People buy them to scratch an itch, then get an itch some place else and go and scratch that.

Number of owners I would suggest is not an issue. Maintenance and service history, and upgrades or not, are probably the key determining factor as even with a hard life, if they are maintained and serviced well they will last.

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

Plus the chassis and running gear can take a real punishment from being driven on track….these cars are engineered extremely well.

I wouldn't worry about any of the big bits (engine, transmission, chassis, suspension etc). The ancillaries are all reliable too but will fail with age. Who knows when but they'll add up over an extended period.

Over a 2 to 3 year time frame with 6000 miles pa, I'd budget £2,500 per annum on servicing and maintenance on a higher mileage older Evora.

The failure rate of components will significantly reduce if the car lives inside when unused and if it has previously been regularly garaged. If the car has lived outside on the coast for many years, you're more likely to see failure of items like radiator and exhaust.

To summarise: it's not an exact science.

Totally agree @jep with your last post. Spot on.

Nothing worse than an Evora kept outside with little use as it will just slowly rot (or all the mild steel under the body and attached to the chassis will!).

My Evora has lived, from new, in a heated garage. When I went on the absolute Lotus Highland Tour last year, the tour guide thought my car was "brand new" as the brake discs and suspension etc were as they left the factory in terms of how they looked. That was after 5 years at that point. Not sure they'd have looked that good after 5 years standing outside, with little use, even under a car cover.

I've spoken to Andrew (who owns the Silver 400) a couple of times. He originally wanted £44k for it before Christmas, but he wasn't sure if he was planning to sell, and I thought it was too expensive at the time. He hasn't owned it long himself, about a year I think?
He got back in touch about 6 weeks ago, said it would be for sale soon and he'd let me know when (in all fairness, I've just checked and I'd missed an email from him asking if I was still interested).

It looks like a really well looked after car from the pictures. Brakes were given a green light on the last service (he showed me the sheet). Another service is due very soon (July/August?) which is around £600. I've been hesitant over the car for a couple of reasons, mainly the colour, the owners, and the mileage. I suspect it'll be over 50k when I sell, and I'll be the 8th? owner. NEITHER of these things bother me in the slightest, but I do try to buy with resale in mind so I don't end up taking a massive bath on the price....so I've been waiting to see what happens with the price.

(Footnote: no offense to those with Silver Evoras!)

My Evora got that paint bubbling the feedback is as I not covered it and it sits outside the bubbling could been worse but I guess erosion factor in metal will always be occurring. I try and use my at least once a week but as Jep mentioned you need to factor a £1-2k a year running costs a price worth paying 😀

Never ever cover a lotus outside. The paint always suffers.

Use the cars and enjoy them for what they are built for. It always amazes me how some people wrap these cars in cotton wool and are afraid to wrack up the miles.

I had My Evora under a cover, albeit under a car port for 5 years without any paint issues.  Oddly the car seemed happier then rather than being garaged as it is now.  I guess the ambient temperature helped in some way.

Lovely looking car, bonkers price as a private sale……

Not a fan of Orange cars usually, but does look great on an Evora. Googled the plate, that car has been spotted in a few places!
