What made you happy today?

Went to my delayed anniversary gift - blacksmith forging some rings :) Was trying to avoid the usual "precious metals" or crap gifts... so went out for 7 hours and physically made ours out of steel, with LOTS of sweat and love instead. Results aren't to everyone's taste but I liked the rugged look rather than a dainty pretty thing. I have more pictures but they're not as artsy - but show off the pattern better.

Do you and your Mrs like a rusty ring then?

It won't rust provided its worn, your natural oils will keep it from tarnishing and even polish it over time

(Yes I'm ignoring your innuendo)

Oh. I thought you'd retired some years back. :getmecoat:

God doesn't want me, and the Devil isn't finished with me yet.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

Eldest son graduated on Wednesday and Thursday gets confirmation of job he really wanted after a long interview process. Chuffed to bits for him.

Meeting Steve Crijns at the brilliant Bell and Colvill open day on Saturday. Steve is generally considered the designer of the Evora though I don't know the divide on this between him and Russell Carr, so don't shoot me if I have got this a bit wrong. Both are legends to me. Steve also worked on the 340R and of course other Elise.

Chatted to Steve who managed to not walk away for over 30 minutes and provided some lovely nuggets of info.

He now works at McLaren and has just finished work on the latest long-tail. Or that was at least the most he could tell me as I am sure he is working on 2020 and beyond Mc's. He designed the interior of the 720.

He drives an Evora NA, his only car. Nice to think of that turning up to Woking HQ every day.

And many thanks to Jamie at B&C and Scott Walker, late of that parish and now at HQ, for the introduction. Magic day.

Best colour for the Excel...….is that blue leather I spy inside?

Well done. Excel is a total bargain and a hidden gem.

Managed to play around with some spray paint today, primer, satin black and then clear coat.

Looks much better for minimal effort. Keeping the bolts silver too as I like the contrast and it matches the key slot

Dropped the 340R to Silverstone today with the spare wheels, shod with the original Yokohama AO38 tyres. 340R will be on the Yoko stand all weekend; collect on Monday. Yokohama are celebrating cars that they have made special tyres for and not many AO38 tyres have survived. I had to clamber in the loft to retrieve them.

The 5GT made a good spares and tools wagon.
